How long before BT regard me as a "new" customer

Options
I am an existing BT customer and my current deal ends on 22/10 although I seem to have paid my line rental until 26/10. I want to switch to BT infinity, however I am being quoted £23/mth by BT despite the new customer deal being £5/mth for 6 months and then £15/mth for the next 12 months. New customers also get a £125 Sainsburys voucher.
If I cancel my current BT deal (either now or from 26/10) how long will I have to wait before BT regard me as a new customer?

  • Usually it's about 12 months.

Did you check the T&Cs for the 'new customer' promotion?

    Usually 12 months.

When you say cancel are you proposing to terminate all the services you have with them then?

Migrate to Plusnet instead. £151 through TopCashBack and half price for 12 months. TopCashBack deal only has 2 days to run so make your mind up quickly and get your MAC from BT now. If you ask for the MAC they may well do a deal anyway although I doubt it will be as good as the TCB+PN one you can get. There will be a small early termination fee from BT but the extra cashback over the voucher should more than pay for that.
