Good morning everyone
Hooray...it's Friday :T Hubby has booked today off work so he's still snoozing in bed. Kids finally got off to school. I also dislike 'nagging' them to hurry up but you have to chivvy them along or they will be late. DD11 has really enjoyed her first week at school so I feel hopeful she will be ok. The teachers there seem to get her 'quirky' ways and she's made friends with another girl who seems as nerdy as her :rotfl:. I am very relieved. DD's 13 and 14 seem to have quite enjoyed their first week too, although I suspect that's more to do with the social side of things.
I have Tescos delivering this morning so I need to go and get dressed in a minute. I very rarely have short dated stuff delivered but it is an inconvenience when they do. I too would phone and complain. I know you have the option to refuse the products at the door but that will often mess up a mealplan and it's not as easy for some to just pop to the shops for a replacement.
I'm feeling a bit sicky this morning so I will be careful about what I'm eating today. There has been a particularly nasty bug going around and I have everything crossed that I don't catch it. Sorry to hear that several of you are not well. Hope you can rest and recover over the weekend.
OS wise, not a lot to be honest. My tins are fairly full so I don't need to bake today, the house is tidy and the washing is up to date. I think I will do some more card making while it's quiet and I have the Bake Off to catch up on. Hope everyone manages to have a nice day whatever they are up to and hugs to all who would like one. Take care xx0 -
Good Morning everyone, lovely and sunny here today but chilly start although we're predicted 23 degrees this afternoon.
We picked the apples from the front garden tree yesterday and I'm going to pick through them today and wrap and store the good ones and probably make apple puree with the rejects to go into the freezer. We had a preliminary sort yesterday and processed another gallon of apple juice for He Who Knows to ferment into cider. We've not made anything like the amount we did last year, despite being a very good blossom year we're down on crop I suspect due to lack of pollination when it was in bloom. Lots of bees around now though but they look like the little dark wild ones not hive bees.
GOOD ADVICE those Seed Sensations loaves are delicious but here they charge £1.65 for them so I only aquire them when they're reduced. My usual bread purchase is from the Co-Op and they do a Farmhouse Wholemeal Loaf for 75p which is very acceptable and I can't justify nearly £2 for a single loaf of bread, sadly!!!
Have yourselves a really good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for starting the daily thread ttftm
Sorry to hear your poorly.
Had a full day yesterday going appointments and y6 open days today's the same but more phone appointments and paperwork.
Oh has just left with the boys for school run, going to make focaccia and spag bol tonight.
Washing on the line already then crack on with the list I've written0 -
Good morning everyone, bit overcast at the moment, but hopefully the sun will break through.
<<hugs>> for those who are poorly with colds, bugs etc
My advice, if you can, go to bed and spoil yourself until you feel better.staggering on just makes you feel worse, and you don't want to past your bugs onto nearest and dearest.
The custard cookies went down a storm with my DGS after school as did the Victoria sponge cake (rest of what's left will go in their lunch boxes today) I am going to make myself a fruit cake today, as I really fancy one. Not made one for ages, and I have all the ingrediants in the cupboard.
I am also going to make a quiche as I seem to have excess eggs and cheese and plenty of 'bacon bits' in the freezer. It will do for over the weekend with salad as my sis-in-law from Faversham may pop in tomorrow, and she likes a light lunch.
So easy to make and helps to use up any odds and ends in the fridge.I am staying away from shops as much as possible this month as I have a lot of expences to lay out for. DGS Ben is off to Uni on the 21st so I am helping sort out a big box of stuff for him.
This afternoon its History Club and the start of a new term I am looking forward to that.
Hope everyone has a good day and TGIF another week has whistled by again
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Morning everyone.
Been a difficult week with a new family crisis almost every day, however, here is Friday and we survived.
Sun is struggling to burn off the mist to give us the promised warm day. I've done a load of washing already and now need to wash myself.
As I am desperate to leave my job and scared to have no formal income of my own I'm going to look at opportunities here. Trouble is it's very rural and so jobs are scarce.
Came home last night to find the front bedroom and bathroom full of very lethargic flies. And I mean about 30 in each room, all huddling at the top of the windows. I'd left both windows open slightly at the bottom when we left on Monday morning. Think they've come in out of the cold??? Just weird. So I sprayed them all with Raid and then had to go outside (in my jimjams) to get away from the fumes. The tip of my tongue went numb! My neighbours were out walking and came back as I was in the middle of the road in jimjams and flipflops... they said they'd had the same problem during the week. House now fly free!
Car has first MOT tomorrow and needs an oil change. Want to start my autumn/winter regime of knitting and got some gorgeous bright red two ply wool in a skein last weekend so need to get it wound.
Hope everyone is well or getting better or coping.
Happy Friday!0 -
Morning everyone
I've just spoken to MrT Customer Services regarding the short dated items - they are fully in agreement that the short dates are not acceptable, especially as it's not just an odd item/odd time it's happened. Every week for the last 3 weeks I've had at least 1 or 2 items that have been very short dated. So as an apology I've been refunded the cost of the short dated items from this week = £11.20 and they have sent me a £6 voucher code to deduct from an online shop which lasts until December - result!
They are also going to investigate at the store concerned to see if there's a problem with supply/staff who pick the items.

Morning all,
TTFTM you are a good friend. Just cause you cant remember peoples news doesn't mean your a bad friend. It just means that you are suffering with brain fog. I get that all the time.:o
Awful to hear about the dogs home. What a cruel young man this child is destined to be. Bought a tear to my eye to thing of the dogs that perished through no fault of their own but it was heart warming to hear of the bravery and willingness of people in the street who risked their lives and donated blankets/homes for so many of the dogs.
Weather looks doomed here. Cant work out whether its worth hanging my laundry out. It doesn't look like rain but doesn't look very warm and theres practically no wind. I ought to make an effort I suppose as we are in between suppliers at the moment.
No news from me, no news is good news as far as I'm concerned.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning All:hello:
Quick post from me as am at work!
Very bad Fog this morning some bad crashes around.Hopefully no one was hurt.Yesterday was as bad fog wise.
I didn't get a chance to post as I was delayed getting home last night due to aforementioned fog.
Was a reasonably good OS day and it was also 1 month anniversary of me not using the credit card for anything.Cash and debit card only-have to keep this going as it has cut down on expenses bigtime. I also managed to get it cleared!
Talk later.Everyone have a safe and happy OS day:wave:NOT BUYING IT 2018!
Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.0 -

Morning all,
Seems to be a lot of poorly's here today and sadly I'm adding another. Was nearly sick in front of new BF last night after eating a slice of pizza. I've been playing with the theory I'm mildly lactose intolerant for about a year, avoiding milk etc and feeling much better for it. I've had odd bits of pizza and things and felt perfectly fine, not sue if it was a different kind of cheese last night but it wasn't fine! Even at it's worst I was never actually sick, just a nauseus feeling. Lovely new BF wasn't even phased by it or notice how mortified I was and came to make sure I was ok with a glass of water, bless him.
Still feeling ropey today but stuck in work, there are 5 in my team and one is on holiday, two P/T and don't work Friday's, the last was off sick yesterday. Going to get an appointment at the doctor and make him do some kind of testing to see what I can eat or what's wrong. I did mention it once that I couldn't take dairy and he tested me for gluten intolerance while telling me to phase dairy back into my diet!?!?!
Typically for me it doesn't seem to be any kind of eating issue that helps me lose weight
I'm needing to get my OS self back in a big way, grocery and spends budgets are all gone already (first month of trying to have a fixed budget). Have to shell out for a new exhaust and brake fixes to the car in a couple of weeks, away at the end of the month for two weeks too, oh and discovered last night I had two bald tyres on my car after it's MOT at the start of August but as I hadn't looked at the certificate (and the mechanic never mentioned it) I didn't realise!!! Trip to the tyre place at lunchIt's just one thing after another at the minute.
NMLC glad you got a positive result from Tesco, hopefully you have more faith to continue ordering online until you're well enough to get back on your feet
Gers shouldn't be laughing but the vision of you in your jimjams running about outside made me giggle, glad the house if flea free now!
Have a good day all, hugs where needed/wanted
