dont use hairspray as it can be bad for your skin...best getting a setting spray - MUA do one for about a fiver
Ive tried several but none of them are as good as hairspray. My latest expensive disaster was the one by Urban Decay. Useless.
As I stated before, its not upset my skin in the slightest. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Primer.. the one I use is Kryolan HD Micro Primer £22 but worth it - it's brilliant. It's invisible but it smooths out and fills in tiny lines etc and can be used on its own or under foundation.
Hairspray as setting spray ? That has to be a joke surely ?
It's flammable, it's not designed for use on skin, it's sticky and it stinks whatever it is. I wouldn't ever put hairspray on skin. Ever. I don't think it would be long before either skin or eyes had a reaction to the chemicals.
Setting spray I have is Kryolan Ultra Setting Spray 9.50

No joke. Mind you I would only risk Elnet. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I do believe it is the biotin breaking you out. Try drinking lots of water after you have taken it and probably lowering to dose would probably stop the breakouts.
Try putting powder on before the foundation. It's a tip from gossmakeupartist on youtube a video called " this foundation tip can change your life" and it does work.
You could also make you own setting spray very cheaply with vegetable glycerine and distiller water or in my case I use water that has been boiled ( cooled). Again works well there are loads of videos on you tube about making DIY setting spray.0 -

I thought it was the biotin so i've stopped taken it. I wore DW light for work last night and its broken me out in loads of small spots. It's defo DW light, I've been using loreal true match and my skins been clear all week. I have done the powder before trick didn't work. Honestly i've tried it all haha, I do makeup for a living so always on youtube looking at different videos for tips and tricks. I think I just stay away for myself from like matte makeup that is probably the most long lasting. All the dewy healthy glow ones are only really good for a couple hours.0 -
Why not have a rethink on foundation then? I would recommend MAC Pro full coverage which can be sheered out as required, no nasties in it so kind to the skin and as its wax based its non drying too, it gives a dewy look without grease and lasts ages, this product can only be bought from the MAC pro site or pro shop or by phone, if you are in the industry you could apply for a MAC pro discount, very useful. Another fab product you may want to check out is Kett Crème foundation, available from Love Make Up, similar to the MAC full coverage but maybe a bit lighter in texture. I would also return the EL DW for a refund despite how much is used, good luck

I've been using EL Doublewear, I definitely recommend trying the hairspray, I use the Poundland stuff and it's never made my skin bad. It makes it last so long and think about it, it gets on your face and scalp when you put it on your hair anyway.
I am getting through the EL so quickly that I thought I'd try the rimmel 25 one yesterday a complete waste of money it's rubbish!
For a primer try (and yes you will think I'm mad!!) Lanacane Anti-Chafing gel (from boots) it has all the same ingredients as Smashbox and the like but at £6 for a big tube, pat it on so the silicon gets into the pores, then wipe the excess into the skin, really works, promise you!
If you find DW too matte and heavy you could try a beauty blender sponge to pat it onto the skin instead (I get cheapies on ebay) feels much lighter that way and you can choose your coverage. Also I swear by High Lights by technic (rip off of high beam by benefit) put some down your nose and on your cupids bow. Another way to get rid of a dull matte look is to contour a bit, it brings your face out and defines it. Use bronzer in a c shape from your temple to the bottom of your cheek bone (under blusher line) and down the sides of your nose, to make you look slimmer and more defined.
it also works great for double chins, apply bronzer under your chin from to ear to ear to create a shadow.MSE- The Glitchhikers guide to the galaxy

Hi,
I agree with the PP who suggested Revlon Colorstay, it's fab. It's supposed to be a very good dupe for DW.
The one for oily skin is supposed to be better than the one for dry skin. I have combo skin and use the oily one and it's lovely, doesn't patch over my dry areas and it's not matte but not dewy/shiny either.
It lasts all day on me, and the only time I break out is if I sleep in it (I know I shouldn't lol).

I love ELDW too, and I use Rimmel Lasting Finish as an "everyday" foundation and really like it, funny how different our likes and dislikes are!

I like using either Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation or Nars sheerglow. I've never had problems with either of those!0
