DLA appeal, don't give up hope!

Just thought I'd post this to give hope to others that are waiting on a DLA appeal.
My wife applied for DLA 18 months ago and it was turned down.
Long story short, appeal hearing a few days ago.
The panel were very hard in the questioning and somewhat contradictory in what they said was relevant.
My wife told them the truth even though it was hard for her to admit her problems to strangers that were very hostile.
So, if you have an appeal hearing tell them everything.
I might be hard but they won't know if you don't tell them.
I'd also advise not taking much notice of the keyboard experts on here!

Did you win? There's no such thing as DLA for new claims now. It's changed to PIP.skeggysteve wrote: »Just thought I'd post this to give hope to others that are waiting on a DLA appeal.

He's made the claim before, and, as yet unsubstantiated. He said on 28-07-2013 at 11:12 PM :But the quality of the free advice offered here is just very poor at best. Some of it, especially by self proclaimed experts, is very wrong. So wrong that I've a mind to think they might work for the DWP or ATOS. PS. I'm not saying you'll get better advice from any other place
He's was asked on 28-07-2013 at 11:12 PM in response to that claim :HiYa skeggysteve,
- could you give actual examples which specific "advice offered here is just very poor at best"
- could you give actual examples which specific "advice offered here is very wrong"
His question at the time was in relation to a 1T trib appeal question posted by dogstarheaven who was the original poster and owner of the thread. skeggysteve just hijacked someone else's thread, made the above comment, and left, and now has returned 14 months later with a repeat unsubstantiated comment ! I note he returned today @ Last Activity: Today 10:42 AM - to read the ' poppy12345 ' comment but has returned again and is currently online - Current Activity: Viewing Thread DLA appeal, don't give up hope!.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. the OP needs to remember that the 'keyboard experts' usually have vast experience of using the system or in fact work for the system.
why are they coming on the forum if the advice is useless?

I won my DLA appeal via help from another forum. Some people on there (and here, maybe?) work or worked within welfare rights, etc.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

The OP's post reminds me of that old Chas 'n' Dave song "There ain't no pleasing you". The thread title would suggest success, but there's no mention of this in the post, just an account of the meeting, and the fact his wife told the truth.
And then an uncalled for comment about not taking notice of "keyboard warriors" on here. I have been on the receiving end of great advice, support, sympathy and understanding, from other posters, who have taken the time to help me with my problems, for which I am very grateful.
Similarly, if someone raises a question, and I have some knowledge of the subject, however limited, I'm happy to post and share that information, in the hope that it would help someone else.
I thought that's what this board was about. Isn't it?

Strange response when I was trying to give people hope.
In order, or not:
Poppy - yes my wife won, sorry forgot to say that important fact! It was a DLA appeal as her application was that long ago!
Richie - I'll respond to you later, hope you don't mind.
nanny - sorry I should have said 'some keyboard experts' - I was just trying to offer real life advice.
Indie - I had help from a different sub forum on here and other forums. Both of which helped.
Sandra - As I said to Poppy, I made a mistake by not saying that my Wife was successful in her appeal.
Richie - I don't know if I should be scared by your stalking or sad for you taking the time to do it.
You seem to interpret posts to suit you rather than read the posts and respond.
To save you time stalking me further my comment about keyboard experts was, mainly, in relation to this thread:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4671733
Where you and others questioned my answers and gave opinions rather than facts.
In this thread what I said my first post are facts and I posted it to try to give other people, that might be in a similar position, hope.0 -
- stalking ? - grow up - I remembered your impudent comments all those months ago ref - nannytone - rogerblack - Cpt.Scarlet - and others
- you were given a lot of good and supportive advice in that thread but chose instead to say :But the quality of the free advice offered here is just very poor at best. Some of it, especially by self proclaimed experts, is very wrong. So wrong that I've a mind to think they might work for the DWP or ATOS. PS. I'm not saying you'll get better advice from any other place
I merely asked [then] to to say why you felt that the quality of the free advice offered here is just very poor at best, by asking :- could you give actual examples which specific "advice offered here is just very poor at best"
- could you give actual examples which specific "advice offered here is very wrong"
Tell the group, particularly - nannytone - rogerblack and Cpt.Scarlet why you felt then and now why [#1-now] you would (1) """advise not taking much notice of the keyboard experts on here!""", by (2) giving actual examples which specific "advice offered [then] here is just very poor at best" and (3) could you give actual examples which specific "advice offered here [on MSE] is very wrong"
nannytone - rogerblack - Cpt.Scarlet - and others have posted thousands of times offering help, knowledge, actual experiences, and unselfish support over many years on MSE. I for one think your comments on the advice offered [on two occasions] are unfair, not showing due respect for another person who strives day after day to help and advise is not a good thing to do. If you really felt then and continue to feel that way now - better to say nothing than repeat 14 months later the same negative remarks on advice and knowledge offered on MSE.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. If all relevant facts are not outlined at first - and it is rarely the case that they are because people rarely know the details of the benefit system, there needs to be a back-and forth teasing out the actual facts and circumstances.
If this is not done, only inaccurate answers can be given.0 -
I've not had a problem with the advice given. In fact, some excellent advice has been given over the years by users on here.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
