There are currently 124 comps indexed in the weekly thread. All these (including the ongoing comps with no overall end date) will each need posting every week so it will mean about 20-30 extra comps per day on the main board, with more on Mondays & Fridays and only a small number at weekends.

That is of course assuming that all 124 are actually still running every week. With no expired button on the regulars board, I would imagine a lot are no longer running.
  • I like to have my own list of regular comps, depending which ones I actually do want to enter regular, which I find off the main board. I like it that way! :)
    Wins of 2021
  • I don't want click to wins to be on the main board, so I'm not voting in the poll because of the ambiguous wording, but I do prefer weekly comps to be posted on the main board.

Don't forget that more threads equates to more Thanks, and we know how obsessed some people here seem to become with those :rotfl:
Thanks to all who post constructively.

A little bit of history – In March/April 2011 after a long and sometimes heated discussion (and a few false starts) it was decided to abandon the monthly thread in regulars and post them all individually each month. At the time some supported doing the same with weeklies but it was decided to leave them alone and re-visit it at a future date after seeing how the monthlies turned out. It looks like we are now looking at weeklies again.

The implications of what is being termed “posting weeklies on the main board” are:

The weekly thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4827085 and its index (posts 1-10) will be locked then abandoned.

There will be no such thing as a weekly comp anymore – they all become individual comps with their own end date posted on the main board.

A comp that starts 01/09 with a weekly prize for the next 10 weeks “E: 09/11 (Weekly) Win a hamper” is currently posted once on the main board (and linked to the weekly thread). It would instead have to be posted 10 times (E: 07/09 Win a hamper; E: 14/09 Win a hamper; etc.). These comps would preferably be posted on the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd etc. and NOT all posted in advance on the 1st with “Opens DD/MM” in the title.

There are currently 124 comps indexed in the weekly thread. All these (including the ongoing comps with no overall end date) will each need posting every week so it will mean about 20-30 extra comps per day on the main board, with more on Mondays & Fridays and only a small number at weekends.

I thought the "special" ones like win a hamper for 8 weeks were the type of ones that would be on the main board with final end date and on the regular weekly board. But the others that constantly run every week like wonga chewitts vp would be posted just on the main board each week?

I agree, click to wins should stay off the main board, but that's only because they are a whole different type of competition.
Clicking on one would automatically take you to a whole 13-or-however-many pages of them, so I see absolutely no need to post each one individually. When I said all comps, I wasn't thinking of these tbh. But I can't edit the poll question so I guess it'll have to stay like that!

Click-To-Wins are dailies and so are outside the scope of this as we are discussing weeklies (and it was decided fairly recently that Click-To-Wins should not be posted on the main board)

Weeklies are those you enter once a week (whether they are open all week or just for one day each week).

There are two fundamental types - "Ongoing" comps that run weekly but have no overall end date, and "Standard" comps which run every week until the final known end date of the promotion. It would be much easier if we have the same posting rule irrespective of which of these two types the comp falls into.

Bumping to bring poll back to top of CCC and hopefully gather more votes/views/comments

    :)

** This poll will close on 15-09-2014 at 4:38 PM **

  • Hi everyone

We've been asked to make a decision on this for you but from the comments here I don't think everyone is clear on what it means.

E.g., ultimately if weekly comps went back to the main board I assume this wouldn't leave many on the regulars board and may mean we'd remove that?

Could you all have a good think, maybe put together a poll that's a bit clearer for participants and let us know?

    Thank you!
Could you do with a Money Makeover?
