Doubt it. More likely the company making the cushions for the U.S market had some overstock and is now trying to move them. I'll let you know about the quality when they're here... ;)

If you say so. But having seen for myself one company that is doing exactly what I stated with several UK branded items, they are not over runs, they are badly made fakes, made to 'order'.

For every person that buys them, they are helping this trade continue out of China and the Far East: http://blogs.wsj.com/chinarealtime/2014/04/28/fake-or-not-see-if-you-can-spot-chinas-counterfeits/

Please also bear in mind that such goods can always get confiscated and destroyed by UK customs if it suspected they are fakes.

Even if they ARE over runs, they are fraudulently using the other companies advertising for the items as that material is owned by the company (they will not be over runs BTW, they will be fakes made to order). Sounds like a wholesome bunch to be dealing with.

Well lots of things I have seen for sale such as scarves/Christmas decorations etc are the same as are being sold on ebay and Amazon.

They are not purporting to be anything other than what they are.

I'll bet loads of company's/people buy in bulk and then sell over here for a huge mark-up.

  • Ive ordered quite a lot of clothing from aliexpress for my kids.
Ive not had any issues at all.
I even ordered some disney frozen stuffed dolls for like £4 posted, they are fantastic. My DDs haven't put them down and they haven't fallen to pieces.
Yes you take a risk with what you buy but there is a 100% money back guarantee.

You took the words right out of my mouth. We're not buying 'fake' designer goods or illegal products that are breaking patents but no-names that are sold on to merchants. It's like buying directly from the wholesaler.

I often have to travel to China as part of my job and have seen factories there that are producing for the West. They have contracts which state how many pieces are to be produced from a given amount of raw materials. They can keep what's left over and sell it on. Incidentally, I have been very happy with the NO NAME products I've ordered. Good luck to them I say!

I looked online at alibaba (because I had seen it on the BBC Business News where they said it was a massive success, can't remember the figures, but the market share was huge). Anyway, alibaba seems to be a retailers' site where people can buy in bulk - this will no doubt be some of the stuff we see being sold on ebay and Amazon.

Aliexpress is linked to (owned by?) alibaba but it's for normal shoppers who just want to buy for themselves and not to sell on. So like Erana69 says it's just cutting out the middle man, and is probably exactly the same stuff as you can buy from some sellers on ebay, the difference being that on ebay or Amazon they will cost more.

I'm not saying the goods are all perfect, I think you need to be careful and sensible, and to be honest there are some things I personally wouldn't want to buy from China. But let's face it much of what we get here is actually made in China anyway. I don't see that there's much difference between me buying a scarf on ebay or buying it on aliexpress (except the price).

Second what Scaredy had said. Think Alibaba is soon to be floated on Wall St and is bigger than ebay/Amazon/Facebook combined.

Yes we need to be cautious, as anyone would on eBay etc. Some stuff is not what seems, but that goes for any market stall or boot seller too.

Personally would not buy cosmetics or toys for young kids myself. I know loads of make up is made in China but feel a bit more confident with a known uk brand.

Do not see why we have to be justifying ourselves really.

Well said! This is a money saving site and we are simply talking about getting a good deal. Let's get back to posting about the bargains we've found ;)
  • I bought these sunglasses http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6151167829.html

They did take a while to arrive, but they are clear that they will

They are amazingly sturdy, very pleased with them for £3.50 ish

Going to try a running top next, also I much rather stick deoderants, which are silly expensive over here, so I'm going to try some of these too
