  • I have been considering the buying and selling route with this.

Anyone ordered anything expensive like a tablet or phone from on there. Is the duty and vat all included by the courier?

What's the fastest anyone has had delivery?

I have used Chinavasion before and they seem okay it's just the duty and vat that puts me off.

What sort of exchange rate do you get by choosing GBP? Is it better than factoring in the charge from your card company?

I have a Post Office credit card that I only use abroad or for non GBP transactions and don't get charged any fee and also get pretty much the Inter Bank rate. Think Halifax Clarity card may be same?

I seem to get a very good exchange rate, certainly cheaper than paying my First direct extra charge. You can compare though when you buy , look at the item in dollars, then just change it to sterling and see what you get.

Firstly I wouldn't touch electronics with a badge pole , your route for repair and warranty is a nightmare if it goes wrong. Don't forget you don't have normal UK consumer laws to fall back on (not that they would apply with a B2B sale). The buyer is also responsible for paying the duty, tax and handling charges as well.

I find Royal Mail delivered items usually get through without an additional charge, although when I am charged the additional £8 handling charge is the killer. If It is DHL or another courier I get charged about 50% of the time. Again it is the handling charge that makes it expensive on a small lot, I've paid up to £12 before even paying tax and duty.

Hadn't thought too much about the warranty and repair angle. But again if it's a worldwide brand is there not international warranties and repair regardless of country of purchase?

The China route seems to be the only way people are buying and selling a certain fruit inspired smart phone version 6!

Odds on any branded items you buy will not be genuine,

i`ve been using aliexpress for ages and they are great so long as your not buying electrical goods or thing like data storage..

You would not be buying a brand though, just a look alike so you would have no warranty- assuming they get past HMRC without being destroyed.

I can't see any future in selling cheap unbranded electrical items with no warranty.

leggyno9 - I've bought my daughter a few Frozen dresses which have all been fantastic and soooo much cheaper.

She is generally in a 5-6 so I got her a size 7 dress which will fit but only just - the next I got a size 8 which is perfect so I'd advise at least one size bigger if not 2 TBH.
