Yep, DS2 95% has what we are having these days as well

  • Including dad?

Do you let him play with his food? It's really important developmentally and he may be more interested if it isn't presented only as food.

What works for one does not work for another, I have a half brothers and sisters , 2 step sisters and my partner has 2 siblings that are adopted. Neither of us have any anger or disapproval, but my partner often says his adopted sister and brother and I often refer to my step sister as my step sister ...maybe there is no need to add that extra word in but it's part of normal conversation for me. Granted I don't always call them my step / half sister but in a spilt family that is just how it is for me.

ANYWAY, sorry for not getting back I have been a bit under the weather and really busy with work.

I don't think that anything anyone has posted I haven't tried...the only thing I was avoiding was the put in front of them and if they don't eat it they don't get ...hence the post. I made a *bit* of a success as I decided for lunch I would do him something similar to what he normally ate but not the normal chicken dippers and waffles I gave him a birdeye chicken battered thing (I've tried proper chicken no luck there) and some small potatoes which he ate...so it's something.

I don't make a fuss over meal times I just put things in front of him and leave him to it, I have tried just adding things onto his normal meals and he just chucks it on the floor before he starts eating lol, I've done eggs beans and toast every day for a week and nothing he just eats the toast as people have said if he keeps seeing the same thing he will eat it as well (The reason I didn't give him toast that morning is yes nothing wrong with toast but he would of just ate the toast and nothing else so was trying to get him to try something else) ...he wouldn't know if he likes it because he won't try it.

Not really sure what else to do but just let him eat his chicken dippers.

P.s Our diet is improving but as my other threads didn't have the best up bringing me and my DS2 had pasta for lunch... :D DS1 didn't even try it ofc.

I'm worried that pasta is being seen as a triumph, what did you eat before?! Well done on the little victories with the potatoes etc tho.

You know Buzzy I never had pasta till I was around 19 and that was a ready meal(not saying I've never tried it before then but I certainly had never sat down to a meal to try it...this is the 2nd time I've had it that I've made it myself...so yes it is a triumph lol.

Not sure what you mean by playing...I don't give him food to play with during the day but he does play with it when he is eating i.e lining it up etc? I don't stop him from playing with it.

Personally I don't think they thought that, and yes dad as well. Dad now works M-F till 5:30 so he comes home we do tea as a family.

No idea what you're trying to say here. I made no reference to the son eating pasta.

Wow - I take it back then. Pasta is amazing - experiment. I used to hate fusilli (twists) when I was a child but for some reason loved spaghetti! Enjoy your new world of pasta :D

Fab. He'll get there. Might be worth you not buying the nasty stuff from this point though. And maybe get him involved in some cooking with you?

By playing I mean you don't tell him off for squishing food, or wiping it on his face, or mixing it up etc.

You could try putting little bits of brightly coloured food like tinned sweetcorn, red peppers, cucumber etc out for him to play with. I remember my daughter going through a phase of having wholewheat pasta twists, tinned tuna and sweetcorn all separately on a plate because she wouldn't eat it if it had mayonnaise on it (she prefers things so that she can see what they are).

  • My niece won't eat anything other than nuggets, waffles, smiley faces, & also pizza. Breakfast usually consists of choco pops & maybe chesse spread sandwiches for dinner.
She's been like this for around 8 years now, since she was about 3 years old & will not entertain fruit or veg or anything else. It's not for want of trying though as she has had other food made but it just ends up refused & the plate pushed away. She actually gips when you place something different in front of her, & has sometimes been physically sick.
Even though she doesn't eat a varied diet, she doesn't eat sweets or chocolate or crisps etc.
And to be fair, it's not done her any harm. Would rather her eat the things she likes than have nothing at all.

    How do you know that?

Id be concerned about her being physically sick when other food is put in front of her, sounds like a food phobia and she might not be feeling any ill effects now, but long term a diet as restricted as that might cause her some issues health wise.
