Ocado - Payment Bounced

Okay, So I had an Ocado delivery, and through pure poor bank account management apparently there wasn't enough to take payment for my shopping.

Still had it delivered, driver didn't say anything, was emailed my receipt prior to shopping arrived - no mention there, and they haven't called me either. The shopping was on Saturday and it's only this morning that I log onto my account to start another order that I get a notification I owe the money!!

Cleared this all up now, but surely they should have atleast tried to phone me! They have 2 numbers for me...

Surely their way is better for the consumer? You got an interest free period, and had you never shopped with them again, you may never had to have paid the money!

It's poor business practice, but good for you!

You'd have been happier if they'd have cancelled your order instead?

  • Is this a poorly worded praise thread? I can't see what Ocado have done wrong.

I didn't post this in here it was in the food shopping board...

peachyprice - I would have felt better if they had phoned me to say they were having trouble taking payment! They have my number, they must have known it hadn't gone through, a quick phone call. or even the delivery driver could have said something.

It's really not down to Ocado or a van driver to tell you your control over your finances sucks...why should they?

I'd be pretty mortified if a delivery driver brought me some food and was like 'oh by the way your payment bounced you haven't paid for these'

A small note on my account would be quite sufficient...

I imagine if you had not made further orders with Ocado a letter would have been sent out, but with an active account its not a urgent issue.

Don't complain! Saves you a cancelled order and as you said with total honesty, it was your fault!

Asda just cancel the order without notice- my card didn't work because there had been some 'unauthorised activity,' so the bank stopped it. (Not moaning, good security).

Asda just didn't turn up and when I rang they said it had been cancelled as payment didn't process.

I must declare myself thought- I do totally LOVE Ocado!

No - but similarly they probably shouldn't be delivering items that haven't been paid for!

    I wouldn't - I'd rather know! I'm not a regular shopper with ocado, I use them maybe 2 times a year.
