I spoke to ebay who iterated strongly that I should not at any point arrange the delivery myself as the delivery contract is between the seller and city link and the damage issue should be sorted amongst themselves. Creating a new contract between city link or other courier could just make things messy, given the damage caused to the item during transit. I think I will take ebay's advice, they seemed very professional.

Ordinarily I have packages delivered to my workplace, but this was a very large one which had to be delivered at home.
