FairFX (US Dollar) in Thailand

Hi all.

Heading to Thailand in 5 weeks and am wondering if I will be ok using my US dolar FairFX card while I'm there? (I have a couple of hundred dollars on it already).

Are there any advantages / disadvantages to using it as opposed to a GBP FairFX card.

Should I be looking at another option ??

Thanks for any advice.

If the money is already on it, then what are you going to do?
If you already have the Anywhere card, that will be better than using a US$ card..

If you don't, then use a better card altogether. Kalixa Pay has no charges against purchases and if you pull the max out each time(£300. Currently 15400 baht), you also get the best rate possible for a Prepaid card. Approx. 0.75% to 0.8% off the full Mastercard rate.
Don't try to use any of them over the counter.

Also, get a Halifax Clarity if you can.

    Thanks

The money on the card is "leftovers" from a trip to the US.

Cheers I'll have a look at both suggestions.

    I understood.

The other advantage of the Kalixa Pay is that there is no cost to spend the Pounds left on the card in the UK. So obviates the need to convert back and forth.
Of course the Halifax Clarity is better than a Prepaid card. In addition, you can use the Clarity to withdraw cash over the counter.

  • I'd just take the FairFX Dollar card as an emergency backup in case your Clarity is lost or refused.
