2nd May 2015 here!! Only decided upon this last week so WAY BEHIND on all the planning. Church and reception venue (including caterers) the only things booked so far. Dress appointment booked for Saturday and confirmation that venue's recommended florist is available on our day. Must get the dress bought and organise guestlist and save the dates!
  • 8 months and counting eeeek  Where has the time gone. Ok time to breathe hehe
Wow there's quite a few of us now so I'll try and edit my first post to put in people's names and their dates.
We'll see if we can spot anymore date twins, triplets etc

Girls yet to get dresses don't panic!
I found mine in the 1st shop I went to, just have a look at magazines and online for styles you like or more importantly things you really don't like, but still keep and open mind!
Mine was nothing like I thought and all the nice lacey sleeved styles I thought I would like looked awful on me.

So things I've accomplished since last time
    Invites sent
    Wedding website now live
Collecting RSVP's and menu choices on another website
Hairstyle ideas and hair piece ideas sourced from National Wedding Show (now I just need to decide)

Wishing everyone good organisation vibes :D
(unless you have a wedding planner hehe)
    Engaged 25/12/2013 :T
Marrying my gorgeous fiance 30/05/15 :D
Saving for the Wedding and Honeymoon :j
  • 2nd May for me! :-D I had a bit of a wobble yesterday that there's still so much to do buy I suppose we've done quite a bit.

Sorted so far: venue (inc drinks), caterers (choosing menu 8th Nov), band, honeymoon, suits, bride's dress, Save The Dates (to be sent this week), wedding rings, gift list, invitations, registrar
Still to sort: bridesmaids dresses, hair, make-up, jewellery, flowers, first-dance song (!), on-site accommodation (major faff - avoid if pos!!!), HenDo

Going to the Bluewater wedding fair next week with maids to get inspiration for dresses, hair etc so hopefully will be able to tick them off the list. :-)

To anyone that's still got to get a dress - don't panic! I tried dresses on in a salon, was massively indecisive so left without ordering the one we really liked. Googled the design 3 days later and found it on PreLoved for 1/3 cost 20mins drive from MiL2B so she went & picked it up for me! I'm picking it up from her next week and then getting altered to fit. There are also a few bridal outlets across the country where you can take dresses away on the day (this is my back-up plan!)

My maids are organising my Hen Do, we've come up with some ideas but I don't get to know exactly what's happening!!

Yes thanks for all the dont worry abotu the dress posts, i visted a outlet last weekend and got the one!! Perfect fi too. Found some shoes on next that were 35£ but when they went in my basket went down to 16£ so happy with that. Did you get your dress dundeediva?

Hope i can keep just doing little bits at a time like that.

Have you all bought suits or hiring them? Does teh brides father normally wear the same suit too or just h2b and ushers and best man?

    Thanks girls :)
  • Hi there,

    Can I join too?? I am another 30th May 2015 girl....looks like it's a popular date!

I am feeling pretty organised but am doing a lot of decorations and stationary DIY so thinking I need to get cracking on all that soon! First stop is I need to finish my DIY invitations...all my family live a long way away and are already asking about booking accommodation so feel I need to get these out (originally I wasn't going to until January as I've already sent save the dates!)

At the moment I'm just feeling like every time I look at the budget it's gone up a bit!! Why is everything so expensive!! I'm really trying to keep it in check as were trying to clear our debt at the same time, but I'm finding it really hard!!

The next things on my do to list are finish the invites, I also need to go back to the dress shop. I ordered my dress back in May and it finally came into the shop a couple of weeks ago but I am having some sleeves put on it as I have some scarring on my arms I'm not comfortable with so I need to meet with the seamstress to look at starting that. The shop also said I need my shoes by the new year so they can look at my hem and said I should be ordering the veil and belt asap. I ordered a 2nd hand veil from a person on facebook and when it came it had holes in so now I'm gutted. I had to send it back and its put me off of trusting anyone else, so now will probably end up paying for a more expensive shop brought one :( I feel like everytime I try and save some money it backfires!!

Oh well, onwards and upwards....I must say I loved trying on the dress that is my ACTUAL dress...it was really exciting!

staple- I did! Went to a ex-sample store the next town over with my mum and both bridesmaids. Didn't have that "omg this is my dress" moment but i love it all the same! Its also not even remotely what I thought i'd get/what i wanted so that was a surprise :)
I've now got this all done-
venue booked (more than half paid now)
    dress chosen and paid for
kilt paid for (need to get the other men measured!)
bought little bits a bobs of decorations, only a few though!
picked bridesmaid dresses (ordering January ish, one bm wants to lose a bit of weight)
    bought bridesmaids shoes
    hired band
    booked photographer
    bought mine and bridesmaids jewellery
    chosen rings
    I still need to-
hire minibus/coach for some guests going home after reception
get brother, best man and bil measured for kilts and order them
    have menu tasting
    order my shoes
    buy rest of decorations
buy cake (m&s wedding cake, the plain one, jazzed up by me :) )
order flowers. We're going for foam flowers. Very reasonable prices and last forever :)
    buy the rings
and order invites. Probably do that asap, the date won't change so no reason not to at the minute!
Think thats it! easy peasy, wonder when the bridezilla will emerge from me lol!
    Saving money like a trouper...

Hi all, how are your plans all shaping up?

Thought I'd give an update as I was a bit panicked when we first set the date a few weeks ago because there was so much to do. Pleased to say that since then I've managed to book church, reception venue (with catering), photographer, florist, band for reception, and hair stylist. I've also designed some save the dates which will be finished this week. I'm so relieved it's all coming together and I've really enjoyed doing it. Just need to make a decision about my dress on Monday!

Would love to hear how you're all progressing!
  • Hey ladies how are you all getting on?
I have 7 months to go from today eeeek
Everything still seems to be under control though haven't done a lot recently. Just come back from holiday as well so this cold weather is not good and makes me want to hibernate, here's hoping that May is nice and sunny next year :)
Did manage to book annual holiday insurance though so it will cover the honeymoon as well next year so was :money:thinking there.

Rainbowneeks I definately know what you mean about everytime you look at the list and budget it seems to get more expensive. Can't believe the price of some wedding items.

Sammy J did you make a decision on your dress?

Dundeediva I know what yo umean about wondering where the bridezilla will come out, mine only raised her head once concerning bridesmaid dresses, but I managed to keep her in check.

Staple28 sounds like you got a bargain on your shoes! I believe my OH and his groomsmen are hiring suits as he doesn't wear one for work so seems a bit of a waste to him. FOB (well in my case my brother) is wearing the same.

Lots of you ladies got your dresses in outlets, do they sell veils as well as I'm still looking for one that will go with my dress. They all seem too OTT or very plain and they weren't very helpful with them in the shop when I got my dress. I did think of asking other recent brides I know to borrow theirs but unsure if that would seem weird?

Been getting RSVP's back in the post and on my website so is really exciting and feeling more and more real now!!! :D

When did you send your invites purple? Mine are just being made now and i'm going to send them in Jan with a rsvp of end of march i think.

I havent done too much as my jobs in doubt at the moment. Im still trying to find bridesmaid dresses which is prooving a bit harder than i thought it would.

The outlet had veils too but not at outlet prices! I'm going to try my luck on ebay i think.

Flowers are next onmy list but want to sort bridesmaid dress first so im sure on color then cant decide between real and fake.

Sorted hair but struggling with a MUA.
