Crash
Ended up crashing in to a parked car the other day, doesn't matter how and why, I accept liability and informed owner and it's getting sorted by our selfs with the agreement if it becomes stressful he can go through my insurance, no problem.
However after the incident I stopped close to another parked car, someone's work car who was working in the area at the time, he came over to me and says I have hit his car, at the time I was not thinking straight so I also gave him my details, I didn't bother with his as I knew I hadn't hit his car.
There was a gap, big enough to walk though between my car and this work car My car could not be moved (drove) the drive shaft had broken, so it was impossible for me to have moved it myself from where my car had come to rest.
Im sure I did not touch his car. The only way the gap would have accrued, if I did hit his car is if he reversed his car himself when I went to knock on the other blocks door.
My car had a flat tire, wheel was broken, pushed rite up in to the body work of my car, so it would not have hit his car and bounced back. If I had hit the work car my car would have been pushed up against his, it wasn't, I'm sure it wasn't.
There is marks on his work car, but no marks on mine from front end.
My guess is he is already had the mark on his front bumper and trying to get it repaired at my expense.
The person has had there car recovered and put there work car straight In to a work shop. I guess there getting the work done and going to send the bill to my insurance.
No whiteness, I do have lots of pictures which my insurance company is inspecting, plus there going to inspect my car in person.
My insurance wanted to inspect this persons work car too, but he has already taken to a garage and had work started.
I guess I have to cut my losses and take what's coming ??

It's annoying if the other guy is trying it on, but in practice it won't make any difference at all to you. If the insurance co accepts his claim they'll just pay him out, you've already lost your No Claim Bonus, excess, etc so there is nothing left for you to lose.0

Your insurer will decide on this. ( You giving your details when you say you never touched him doesn't help though)0

The op's plan was to pay the repairs himself to the one car he says he hit.
That meant no loss of ncd and there's never any excess to pay anyway for repairs to a third party.0 -
and there is also the question of whether it is one accident/claim involving hitting two other cars or two separate accidents and hence claims.0

Ok, so the person who says I hit their car has actually now put in a claim.
It's not their insurance company that has contacted me but a solicitor company acting on his behalf.
Claim is for losses
Not sure why it's going through a solicitor at this point rather than his insurance company.
I have responded by confirming my details, i.e address, name, reg, as required and sent them back, also copied the letter and sent original to my insurance company as required.0 -
Because it's not a legitimate claim. Have a search online for the solicitor - I bet it's either a small or unknown one, and they are asking for you to pay them a suspiciously round number for repairs without any evidence that a repair was done.
I'd be referring them to my insurance company and letting them deal with it. Did you take any pictures of this other car and the gap between them? If possible go back to record the "damage".
If you suspect it's a fraudulent claim, I'd also go to the police and get a reference number; they are trying to crack down on this sort of thing.0 -
Yes I have lots of pictures and have passed them on to my insurance company.
The solicitor company used is a small company, yes.
They have not asked for any amount yet. Just asked me to confirm my details because one of their clients have ask them to peruse a claim for losses.
My insurance company are fully aware of the situation.0 -

If he has TPFT or TPO his insurers wouldnt be interested. Even if he has Comp there are some brokers/ insurers that will push you off to accident management companies when liability looks simple from what their customer has told them rather than dealing with it under their own policy.
Assuming your insurance is now involved, just pass it to them unanswered and they will respond on your behalf.0 -
Person has 2 insurances, business and personal, both fully comp.0
