URGENT HELP PLEASE: Unlocking BMW 750

Hi, need help urgently and this would really be appreciated.

A friend has locked himself out of his BMW 750. The RAC could not even work out how to get back in, but friend says there might be a way by shorting some of the wires underneath the car. He doesn't have net access so asked me to help.

If anyone can help I'd be grateful - I know nothing about cars so any help would have to be detailed.

Thanks. so much.

I would suggest contacting BWM regarding the car and they will be able to give you a replacement key (at a cost usually around £80) I wouldnt try getting in by shorting some of the wires as this could damage the car.

Tell him to go to where he brought the car from and explain the situation this must happen millions of times so they will know exactly what to do.

Hi, that would be difficult as he's currently quite literally in the middle of nowhere somewhere so unless he got a taxi which would probably be more expensive. Also, are BMW even open at this time of night? He, his mother and some other people basically have no means og getting anywhere unless they can open the car.

I saw somewhere that connecting the starter wire to the + on another battery, then the - on the other battery to the metal of the engine may work - is this true?

don't want to damage the car but at the same time it's rather imperative that they get moving soon. BMW were 'useless' when he called them, wouldn't help and wouldn't send someone out. This is just what he told me, I'm not there so anything you advise me I have to relay to him and vice versa.

This sounds abit like something that happened to my family.

About 3/4 years ago we were going to France with our Carravan. We were all set to go had the Carravan packed then when my dad went to open the car we didnt have the keys:eek: We looked everywhere, called the AA to help us but they said we would have to go to the Peougot (sp) garage. We were literally supposed to catch our ferry in about 10 hours (6 hour drive away)

I cant remeber the outcome now though. We either found the key or went to the garage and got another key but i think it was the first.

It was very stressful at the time but we can lauph about it now:rotfl:

This is why I have 3 keys :) I have one, my OH has one and we have a spare with a neighbour in case one or other of us can't get in contact or get there (OH works away a lot during the week) - Ok so it'll cost a bit extra but well worth it if you're as daft as me :) Glad they found the key though... wouldn't have adviced to try any of the so called "cross wire x with wire z" etc - it might work on really old cars (yes I know how to hot wire a car - had loads of old cars in my time and someone once tried to steal one of them totally breaking the ignition barrel... had to hot wire it for a month till I could afford a new ignition barrel...) but certainly wouldn't try it on a newer car... too many electrics
