It just seems a bit pointless to throw away a tax disc you are already displaying when it`s not actually expired, whether you need to or not.

Well stick it in a draw if it makes you happy and less paranoid.

Discs purchased this month will prove nothing anyway, the DVLA have run out of the special forge proof paper that the discs are printed on and if to order online you will receive a disc on plain paper.

I got mine as part of the letter, printed in colour.
This reminds me I have not fitted it yet.

My car tax expires at the end of October and I will want to set up a direct debit to pay monthly under the new scheme. But I go away in mid Ocotober and I'm not back till the end of the month. Will that give me sufficient time to set up a direct debit? Of course, if the reminder comes before I go away, I can set it up before I go.

Apparently from other threads the introduction of the DD payment option has been delayed till at least November so it looks like you will be paying as you did before.

Ho ho - the new scheme is falling apart - and it hasn't even started yet.

gov.uk couldn't organize a whatsit in a brewery - they would likely forget the glasses.

As usual big ideas but smaller details overlooked.
