OS Thread Monday 8th September 2014

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 8th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Awake with Molly AGAIN…….sigh………..
Currently Madam is watching the hedgehogs that frequent our wild garden:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: (that is what a well tended garden becomes when there is no time or energy…….but the increase in birds, frogs, hedgehogs and a squirrel too has been inspiring) We get a good view as next door have a security light on all night which illuminates our garden too!

It is my darling husband's birthday and we are going to a spa for the day. He deserves it very much as he works so very hard and is my carer as well as a fantastic Dad and my Mother thinks he can do no wrong:T:T:T

So not much OS - it has been sadly neglected. I did a huge online shop yesterday so we are well stocked as regards food but my energy is sadly lacking so quite a few convenience foods. Really need to get a grip as Christmas soon be here :eek::eek:

Oh well Molly is heading up the stairs to bed, better follow her else she will wake OH and then there will be trouble.

Catch up later - hope you all had a good OS sleep xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

  • Good morning Molly and all who cross/follow :)

Another one with lack of sleep last night but mine is down to snoring DH, rather than restless dogs. Am going to have to try and find some earplugs because no matter what position he is in, he snores so loudly, it wakes me and him up!

A very Happy Birthday to Molly's DH and I hope you both have a wonderful day at the spa
    :bdaycake:

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Good Morning everyone, MOLLY sorry you've had another short night, Docky was much easier last night and we got to bed by 10.30. Having said that he was up and down like a yo-yo for most of the night but didn't come and scratch the side of the bed to wake me up. I hope it's much later before you read this love and have at least had some quality sleep time!!! Happy Birthday to MR MOLLY have a lovely relax at the spa today both of you!!!

It's clear outside today and after yesterdays misty start we had a glorious day, and another is forecast today with sun and warmth so He Who Knows will have good weather to drive home in. I'm still getting lots of blackberries from our plants in the garden and the apples are ready for picking on the front tree. I got some lovely hazelnuts yesterday when I walked the boy with a friend and could have picked up bagfulls, it's a good year. We walked past a chestnut tree so covered with nut cases you could hardly see the leaves undernesth, shame all the nuts are so small when they drop so not worth harvesting, the squirrels will eat well this winter, and the hawthorn is so covered with haws the hedgerows look red tinged.I don't worry too much about signs in nature but if the old addages about crops are right in any way we're going to get a long hard winter this year, we'll see!!!

Hope you all have a lovely day, enjoy the nice weather while it's here, Lyn xxx.
  • Morning all

Hubby's been dropped at work but I've come home for an hour, I really don't feel like giving work an hour of my time for free.

I got very little done yesterday apart from a couple of loads of washing & crushing 45 empty lager cans from the night before!

Molly, I hope you & hubby have a lovely day.

Time I started to get ready, I'm so full of enthusiasm, not!

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

Molly Nice to see you sounding cheery :D Have a fab day x

The girls are all in together :T Millie got herself into a flap at bedtime, she really didn't want the newbies in there. I lifted her onto the higher perch and them onto the lower one and they all settled down.

The shed is now ours again, I've cleaned it and removed the temporary perch, I can fit our things back in there now :D The lawn needs a good raking and spray down after having chickens on it for a couple of weeks. They've kicked most of the bark off the border so will need to tidy that too. I have a couple of bag linings to make today (or at the very least I'll cut and tack them). Also need to print some backing papers and sort cards.

    Morning All

Looks like another lovely day here, just one small load of washing to go out. DW on and will hopefully finish before I leave, the cycle is shorter now it has been fixed.

Managed to get the mist coats on DDs room yesterday and then put the tester pots on just to check with DD that it was really what she wants - the 'touch of silver' is actually quite a dark grey so I am wondering if the shop (W!lkos) will take them back - I bought 2 tins! If not I am sure they will come in somewhere.

Went to look at cars yesterday, mine is starting to cost quite a bit with little things and DD doesn't use hers very much so we are pooling our resources and have bought another one. Mine is 9 years old and hers 4 so we have traded them in and will get the new one on Sunday - the only day we are both around to drive 2 cars to the garage. I will really miss mine (and so will everyone else) as it is a large estate but I really don't want to get stuck somewhere. (Trying to justify the whole thing to myself here!).

So, this week I have bought a flat for DS2 and a car - not very OS but that is the profit from selling the other house last year. Now time to tighten my belt big time.

Talking of tightening belts I am starting healthy eating today, just 5 weeks till we go to NYC and I can't get my jeans fastened so the time has come!

Molly - hope you and DH have a fantastic, well deserved day, Many Happy Returns to DH.
Mrs LW - How's Docky's muzzle? I bet he will be pleased to see his 'daddy'!

Chicken kebabs for tea - not made them before, wish me luck!

Hope you all have a good week and are feeling fine and dandy. Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Nice day here again off to work for me, had a bit of a day of it yesterday with one of the clients which ended up with me getting slightly injured, which will mean today will be spent doing loads or reports etc as well as the normal work !!

Will do pizza and salad for dinner tonight with some garlic bread, and I need to do an online shop and some banking.

Need to do a wash too and have a quick tidy through.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, blue cloudless sky and sun shining.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Lunch yesterday was haggis, roasties, HG carrots, HG green beans, broccolli, peas, Yorkshires and gravy – not traditional how haggis is supposed to be served, but all enjoyed and clean plates all round. Today for dinner we’ll be having gammon, onion sauce, eggs, new pots, and peas, ice cream for dessert.

The outlaws visited yesterday so lunch was a bit behind, they walked in and said they’d come for their lunch – I don’t have any issues with cooking for anyone, and can produce extra servings if needed, but I said to them, under normal circumstances I would ask them to stop but I wasn’t going to yesterday as I’m not really up to cooking for extras, and we’d got haggis and I doubt they would eat it! The haggis was actually a really good buy – BOGOF £2.29 for 2 – more than enough to feed us 4. They stayed for a while and then left, lunch was ready for about 1.15pm. Afternoon was very chilled and didn’t really do much. Watched the GP as we ate lunch, Well Done Lewis.

DS1 starts his new job tomorrow, so he’s going to do a couple of jobs for me today, he’s up now eating his brekkie, DS2 is up, had brekkie, now getting ready for school.

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone :j

I've just had a frantic morning with getting my three daughters up and ready for school. It's their first day back and there was the usual drama with a lost lunchbox and missing PE kits. Never mind, it is all sorted now and they are out the door. It's my youngest DD's first day at big school and I will admit to having a little snivvel at seeing her all dressed up in her new uniform. I hope she is happier at this school than her last one. Oh well, I'll have to wait and see how she got on. It's quite a long walk there and back so I shall be baking today so they can have something when they get home as they are usually ravenous.

I have a Tesco delivery this morning between 8-9 so I must go and get some clothes on. My eldest DD is coming over after school drop-off this morning so I will get the kettle on for that too. I have lots planned this week including baking, batch cooking and crafting so hopefully I won't get too lonely. It's a big adjustment for me after the long summer holidays but I really love this time of year, makes me all 'squirrely' and want to get ready for the winter.

Before I forget, Happy Birthday to Mr Molly, I hope you really enjoy your spa day today.

Hope you all manage to have a great day whatever you are up to. Take care xx
