Not particularly likely. PSA's last UK factory (Ryton, Coventry) closed in 2006. I don't think Peugeot have _ever_ built cars in the North of England. Rootes had Linwood, in Scotland, but...

We have a whole load of (young?) persons working in Insurance phone-quote lines too who don't understand those who try to use words correctly. Note: I said try - I often make mistakes!

Last year I was trying to get an insurance quote for my Mercedes Benz Sprinter, and the young lady asked me if it was an 'import'.

I replied that it was made in Germany so of course it was an import.

She then said that her company didn't insure imports.

We then went round in circles until she eventually saw that what she had really should have asked was whether it was a 'personal import' or was it new on first UK registration.

I know how to respond now - I say that I bought it new from my local Mercedes-Benz dealer in the UK - and let them decide if it's an 'import' or not. :rotfl:

the reason i asked about parallel imports is in 2003 i bought a new ford Mondeo zetec from motor-point derby, when i looked at the car it was unregistered and had not been prepared for sale it still had protection film on the bodywork

the car was sourced from Belgium and was imported into the uk by motor-point so it was a parallel import from the eu, how many people in the uk are driving around in cars that they bought new from a car supermarket and they dont even know it is classed as a parallel import
  • Does the date of import match that of manufacture? Www.autotrader.co.uk and https://www.carcheckuk.co.uk both use data from Experian so should be accurate.
