Hi,
I'm looking at buying a new car from a private seller. Just done a check online for the car and it's come up all ok apart from this:
Condition Details
No insurance write off recorded
Messages From The DVLA / DVLNI
Vehicle was imported on UNKNOWN
It doesn't seem like much of a problem to me. Should I be concerned?

Depends how much you are paying for it, in comaprison to similar examples.0

About 40% less than a garage seems to charge for a similar car.0

Did you do a proper HPI check? And check the DVLA website for the MOT details?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

if it is a parallel import or a grey import?
EU imports or parallel imports are cars bought in other EU countries and imported into the uk, there are hundreds of thousands of them out there and many people dont even know the car they are driving is a parallel import
if it is a grey import it may be more of a problem and somthing i would think twice about0 -
I did a HPi check on a car that i was preparing to sell a few years ago.
I thought it would save time with a fresh HPi check to make any buyers feel more at ease.
But that also said Unknown at the same section.
That car was a UK supplied car with full dealer history.
Hopefully that helps.0 -
Was it manufactured abroad? Unless it's a UK build, then it will have been imported when it was new, before it was ever registered. That could explain it?0

It was the check you can buy on Auto trader. It's a Peugeot so possibly imported from France.0

I strongly suspect that there's some overthinking going on here, combined with bad coding on the page. It's probably a UK-new car, but if it'd been an import, there'd be a date shown.
When you go see it, have a look at the V5C. If it's an import, it'll say on the front something like "First registered outside the UK" (sorry, cba to dig out an import V5C....), and there'll be two "First Registered" dates - one "First Reg", one "First Reg in UK" - the latter's the (effective) import date.0 -

Or one of the 16 other countries where they're made!0 -
If it is a small Pug it is as likely to have been built in the North of England!0
