Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I won, I won, I won!
I won a fab oliday to Venice which included a gondala ride tranfers on a private water boat flights etc. it was amazing !! We tried to do it on the cheap as we had just got back from Paris when we went. I think as with any holiday it can be as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be. The only thing we had to pay for was food (except breakfast) and entrance into things so we ate at cheaper places. my fave win ever xx
:j First prizes back into comping after a break - romantic break to 2 to Venice/ Paris or Rome with romantic trip and a 42 inch TV and blu Ray amazing !

Thank you all so much and good luck guys and girls xxxxxx
  • When I won my trip to the Cannes film festival we had to buy a tux and a posh dress to wear which was quite pricey and the travel to gatwick airport which was also quite pricey. But it was worth it as whilst there we didn't have to pay for anything and it was a once in a life time experience. Now when I enter holiday comps I tend to stick to all inclusive hols. And for breaks away in this country I tend to go for ones that include travel or ones that I know won't cost me an arm and a leg to get there. I don't enter any Scottish ones for that reason even though they have has some lovely ones

I only enter holidays in the UK for 2 days or over, which i'd be happy to pay train fares to get to, plus other expenses. You can get quite cheap train fares if you book them far enough in advance.

I only enter overnight stays for places that are close to us. We don't go out a lot, so if we got a nice night out and a stay in a lovely hotel, spending some money on making that a nice evening out to remember wouldn't be a masive issue.

Holidays abroad i only go for 4 days and over, with flights only from our closest airport. We live not far from Heathrow, so if we needed to get a cab at stupid o clock in the morning to make a flight it wouldn't be too expensive and with all holidays you have to expect expenses (food and days out etc).

We can't afford to pay for any of these things in full, so if we had a win and had to only pay out some money for expenses, that's great!

For example, about 5+ weeks ago i won a £200 Red Letter Day Voucher. We have decided that because we haven't had a holiday for a while, we'll spend that on a two night stay in a lovely hotel in a nice place.
Those tend to include breakfast on both mornings and sometimes a meal on one evening. It may mean we will have to pay a little bit extra to have a two night break or wait until one is on a sale.
It also means we would have to pay train or coach fares, dependant on the distance, and also we would have to pay for meals and also something to do on a day out in the local area.
But if that means we can have a lovely two night break away from home with some lovely memories for a lot less than what we would normally pay if we had to pay for it in full, it's a bonus in my opinion.
  • I've won a few trips which have actually cost me a fair bit in flights etc (live in NE Scotland so they have sometimes involved getting London flights reasonably last minute which is never a money-saving experience!) but to be honest the memorable experiences and places that I would not have experienced otherwise have made it worth it. The one that ended up costing me the most (London flights, night in a hotel beforehand, spending money and gratuities not included) was most worth it (a cruise that is to date my highest value win ever) and we had an amazing time living the high life!! Hence I don't get on here with any regularity these days, but when I do my first searches are for "trip", "holiday" and "break" :D

Won Barbados AI last year so no extra money needed.
Also won a voucher which I exchanged for an AI holiday in Turkey.
Won a fly drive to Alberta, Canada which meant paying for your own meals which wasn't particulaler expensive.
Won a city break to Canada (Monteal&Quebec).Had to pay for meals but not that expensive.
Won a four night break to Ireland (Castle Leslie) which they desrcibed as AI but was FB. Car Hire with SatNav was also included. Just paid for some petrol but was given £200? spending money anyway.
Won four nights Dundee (golf holiday) and accommodation was HB so just had to pay for lunches plus paid for a cheap car hire.
Won trip to Manchester and given £200 for travel. Only had to pay for lunch.
Won trips to London where you can spend as much or as little as you want.
One of those trips included a meal in a Mayfair restaurant with £150 credit for meal but we could only get up to £100 ;-(( as we are not drinkers.
Have won three trips to Paris, one of which I didnt take because of the cost.
Have won a Eurocamp holiday which I decided not to take as the travel costs and food costs whilst there seemed expensive (Gave holiday back and was given to a reserve winner)
    Won Morocco AI
Won Cook Islands but airline tax was £800+ plus I thought I would need to spend at least another £1k so asked for it to be redrawn. (In hindsight I wished I had paid the money and gone.

And 2014? Haven't won a single break or holiday. I must confess I don't enter SC holidays, one night in a hotel, breaks on the other side of country, or where flights not included

    Bloody hell!!!

I'm in awe and am inspired to keep aiming for the hol win. All inclusive ones of course.

  • I won a three night five star break to Istanbul flights hotle [bed and breakfast] included. I spent about £50.00 a train to london stayed in my sisters and got the train to Luton. I took about £200 spends, as did my sister who came with me. The hotel was luxury and somewhere i could never afford to stay. Yes it did cost us some money but it was 100% worth it. We got to experience luxury and a great three days. A money cant buy prize

The way I look at it, we would normally spend a smallish amount anyway on a holiday - we can't afford weeks abroad but we do tend to have a week in North Wales or something. So if I won a holiday, I'd add the money we would normally spend on our holiday anyway, and use it for spends or transport etc.
Dreaming though as I've never even won a weekend away yet!
  • I won a 2 night stay in Copenhagen .It included first class ferry travel and 2 nights in a good hotel. Far to far to go for 2 nights so we extended it to include other places and the 'Bridge ' and malmo and stockholm. Being a huge fan of the tv drama this was on my bucket list anyway. We had to pay in any case for two bridge crossings, petrol and food so incorperating it into our summer hols meant we travelled in a style to which we are not accustomed. Nice cabin, food and wine on board and a very central hotel in Copenhagen. We did the rest on the cheap -well as cheap as you can in Scandinavia- and are very pleased we went. Always trying to win breaks and holidays, but don't usually enter those without flights.
  • The way i look at it is if you win a holiday comp except to part with money, If you can not afford it avoid holiday comps. I avoided all holiday comps until i renewed my passport because knowing my luck i would win one lol.
