Over 90% of the oil will be Scottish in the result of a Yes vote and there will be no legal challenge.
That's what you chose to believe. It's all still up for negotiation. The UK hasn't agreed to anything yet. We haven't even enacted a law to let Scotland have its independence. All we have let you do is express an opinion in a referendum.0 -

The UK being signed up to UNCLOS is not a belief.''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0 -

Did Scotland sign up to UNCLOS or did the UK sign up to UNCLOS? Does Scotland even exist? Did it exist when the oil & gas was discovered?
I reiterate.
Dutch gas belongs to all citizens, not to the region most proximate to the gas. Norwegian oil belongs to all Norwegians, not just to those closest to the oil.
The United Kingdom followed the same practice of assigning ownership to the national government.
As in the Netherlands and Norway, the process by which ownership rights were assigned was democratic and preceded the discovery.
Ask yourself again - why do you think Scotland will get all the oil & gas?0 -

The UK did, Scotland will.
It's not an issue.
Don't you think Darling would have been ranting and raving about it in the TV debates if it were?

Of course it will be.
Honestly, you don't think the UK will play hardball? You think other Countries want that sort of precedent set?0 -

Why aren't Osborne, Darling, Cameron et al ranting on about this 'issue'?''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0 -

Hi setmefree2.
I think you're relatively new to these Scottish threads so some helpful hints might be in order:
1. Anything that Scotland wants which the UK doesn't want Scotland to have is 'up for negotiation' (see below)
2. The oil is Scotland's
3. The debt is England's
4. The SNP is the world's only non-racist nationalist party
5. The only thing to hold Scotland back is Westminster
Hopefully that will smooth your path through things.0 -

Is Salmond? Or is he just letting all the Scottish voters assume they will get 100% share of the oil & gas tax receipts?0 -

I was responding to the OP who had cited declining production levels and the impact it would have no our economy.
I don't disregard that Oil & Gas is a finite resource, but we should best utilise that resource while we can.
We already get all that revenue and a lot more.
If we split there's a big shortfall to make up.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
