I assumed they'd move to the CAD, for some reason.
Maybe even become Nova Nova Scotia.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

Yes, I had noticed that. I never said it was. Further powers wasn't on the ballot paper either.0 -
Which made the entire thing a gamble. Same as being in the EU.
Scotland would not have been expelled by the EU. The EU was hardly likely to throw out 5m Scottish citizens and put EU citizens in Scotland in a precarious position. I think continued EU membership would have been agreed under certain conditions, less favourable or otherwise. A moot point now though. I still think a UK in/out referendum on the EU is far more dangerous.0 -

You have to be in something to be expelled.0 -
Loyalists attacking the Yes wake in George Square,Flower of Scotland being replaced as the national anthem, very existence of Scots football team in trouble.
Scotland elected a nationalist government.an agreed referendum was held in a country where people sung nationalist songs at football/rugby/weddings.

There is no way they would have been allowed to remain in the EU because it's the UK who is the member. They would have had to apply and it is by no means certain how long that would have taken as there would have been countless hoops to jump through. Their membership could have easily been vetoed by the likes of the Spanish who are terrified of their own separatists or indeed the UK if the Scots had walked away from the National debt as they were threatening to do if we didn' cave into their demands.0 -

Yes, they would have been removed from the EU. Because they were not a member once they left the UK. Because Scotland never signed on to the EU.
Not to mention precedent which would not be acceptable to other EU members re other possible 'defections' such as catalonia etc.0 -
