When to get US Dollars

Hi,
with all of the uncertainty around the scottish vote the pound seems to be taking a kicking. We got a good old Kalixa card for use in florida in 9 days time which we have not put money on yet.
I am now wondering whether or not to get a fairfx card as the pound seems to be tumbling. The rate on the fairfx card today is 1.59 and i am pretty sure the kalixa card is based on the mastercard rate?

If anyone has any advice or suggestions then that would be great :)

TIA

Pretty much answered your own question with the referendum vote being such a big mover and shaker on the pounds performance I would opt for ASAP. With news coming in of the yes vote overtaking the No vote in the Friday poll then expect another fall in Sterling tomorrow.

How will a Fairfx card help you?

You have a current rate of US$$1.63360 and you want to buy at US$1.59??

    Don't be a silly billy. ;)

You can easily remove/use money on the Kalixa, especially as it is still in Pounds.

If the Kalixa card is storing the money as GPB presumably you are not getting $1.63360 but getting the rate when you actually spend it - is that correct ? (which could very easily drop again)

Indeed, but you aren't speculating with the Kalixa card. In fact you don't even need to top it up until the last minute.
Now if you suggested buy the US$ at 1.62, my answer may have been different. Perhaps UKASH Travel Money had that rate at the time.
But putting it on a card at US1.59? No. Especially when said card further charges you to withdraw.
