Hello I'm welcomed to be on this site thank you,ok where do I start,I'm single on ESA and have a care of address at my mums house, which is also the house of my kids and ex-wife.
Now I have had my money stopped as I can't claim from that address as my x wife lives there, what can I do ? I'm virtually homeless, have mates/relatives but that has run it course, maybe bogged down to sleeping in the car which I can barely afford.

~While I try to have sympathy, I find it difficult to believe people who say they have nothing, are down to sleeping in a car, destitute, but they can still access the internet, with a phone, dongle, monthly contract......
    what's that all about then.....
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Car I bought whilst I was working,it's not a crime I don't think,it a wreck anyway, please it's not a Mercedes, well everyone had a mobile don't they I restricted to the mb I use hence the question and I may not be able to answer back.
Valid point though still not helping me out though, thanks again.

Have you tried declaring yourself homeless to your local Council offices, they may be able to help you with seeking a tenancy or phone and ask for an appointment with their housing options team to discuss your options.

You will be able to applyfor housing benefit for help with the rent.
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

I'm confused. Where are you all living at your mum? Did your mum kick you out? Why is it you being homeless whilst your mum is happy to still have your ex living with her?

Can't one of your mate agree you can use their address, or ultimately, explain to the investigation team that you are homeless and only using your mum's address for the purpose of benefits. Can you prove you don't live there any longer (no room for you, no clothes, anything left packed in boxes etc...).

Your benefit shouldn't have stopped just because you are using your mother's address as a c/o. How long had you been receiving benefit and was there any contact from DWP before it stopped? If there was no contact you need to get on to them immediately.
  • Have you got a job? Or are you looking for one?

  • Hi,my mother took in my ex around 2011 after she had a baby and was going to be left homeless, like me but there was no room for me,I had been working until end of 2011 and always house shared with mates, then they went off to have kids etc and I was basically here and there, but the council was not interested in me as a single bloke,so when I go ill at work and was instructed by dwp to claim esa I needed a address and the only good person and safe mail was my mothers address.
I do get on well with both mum and ex and spend a lot of day time around there, but night time I have to find alternative accommodation,as there is no room unless you want to sleep on a hard floor,
So now the dwp has stopped my money until I either
1.get back with partner which I've never claimed any benefit with
2.get my own address by tomo, which will be impossible having no past tenancy or money.
I have not been notified not called or told at a wrag group,oh your money had been stopped,I did fall on bad times recently and had to put a loan application in,which the dwp honoured even though two payments before they had stopped my money.

So what shall I do ?
Claim with my ex,keeps mouth shut (as I've not in the past) and sleep on the sofa
Or go homeless and do what I have been sleeping hear and there ? If like the first option but I don't want anyone else's money being stopped,
  • Granted there is the odd bit of rubbish storage of mine there, from before I was with my ex,but can't afford any storage, there is no clothing washing hygiene items I always have them.

    You can appeal the decision.
The fact you're not sleeping there at least some of the time is a powerful bit of evidence that you're not in a relationship.
You can live with an ex - as long as there is no relationship between you anymore.
  • I'm going to ring up tomorrow and ask my options again,I was heated last week when I had a call back,
