Pay as you deals rubbish? (voda)

I have several phones on my Vodafone account, One is coming to an end very soon.
I thought about dropping it to a pay as you go deal and keeping the current phone (Galaxy S2).
Sim only pay monthly deal. £9.50 but only 300min, 500txt and a measly 250mb data.
For £14.50 i can get a phone S3 mini, Moto G or similar and at least double the minutes, Unl txt and 500mb+ of internet.
Initial looks appear that the charges for using the internet daily will soon eat any pay as you go credit.
£2 a day for 50mb i think.
Appears that a pay as you go phone wont really be good value if you use around 500mb of data a month. Or have i missed something?
Thanks.

Voda are known for offering bad service at a high price, so it isn't all that surprising...====0

For £6 a month on a cashback contract on a different network you get a phone you can sell for £50+ pounds, 500 minutes and 500mb; why does anyone go for either of your options?0
-
I hate cashback deals. If its one where you need to send the bill in on the 7th Monday of the month in a pink rose scented envelope that must be delivered a week before you send it. Then im far too lazy and must use the full price as i will be unlikely to send it off.
What will it cost me if i fail the cashback bit?
Am I right in the data and pay as you go bit though? If you dont topup each month then it could be costly due to the data?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I love them - currently have 7 contracts and watch over more than that for several other people, all of whom have been using them for years. If they don't send things off (having prompted them) I'm on their backs until they do. I also monitor them to ensure they get all acceptances and payments; they have saved small fortunes over the year, generally without too much hassle. Takes 5 minutes to claim, we don't use post or any kind of envelopes. Like me, they can't understand why people actually pay so much for contracts - it's a fairly regular conversation between us!
£18 before cashback - but that's not really an issue, since it's extremely rare for any cashback not to be collected (I can think of possibly 5 which people have failed to get out of hundreds - and 4 of those were with a higher-risk dealer who went bust; even then the costs were largely mitigated).0 -
There are plenty of SIM-only deals offering far more than you will get from Voda. Get your phone unlocked and the world's your lobster...No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Why don't you switch provider. There are plenty of better deals out there.

Get a dual sim phone, then enjoy the best of all worlds.
1/ One sim PAYG with White Mobile (Unlimited free calls and texts within network, 3p per minute to call landlines, free voicemail)
2/ The 2nd sim with Three 3 2 1. Calls 3p per minute, texts 2p and data 1p per mb (and you get another 150mb free when you top up). With pass through codes you can make calls to landlines in the UK and abroad for around 2p per minute.
Unless you are one of those people who never unplug themselves from their phones, this gives you everything you need for a few £ per month.
Best of all, with PAYG you can port out anytime and don't have the stress of a contract, and thieves cannot make £ thousands at your expense.0 -
Yes definitely move to another network, check that google docs link out.0

Moving to another network is not an issue. The S2 is unlocked anyway. Voda no longer lock their contract phones.
Three 321 mentioned above looks OK. But are those prices only valid for the month you topup? I was just wondering about the charges for months that you dont topup.
Also checking the google link. Thanks.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If going pay monthly then the 3 deals seem expensive, I guess thats because the data is unlimited. Unlimited not required.
The 321 pay&go deal looks good value though. Am i right in thinking that when you topup £10 you get free minutes and texts for 30 days also?
Or is that a special offer when ordering the SIM?
Thanks again.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
