  • Do you have another fob for the car? And if you do, is that working ok?

No, we only have the one fob and one standard key without fob

  • Shame, that would have told us if the problem was the car or the fob :(

Yeah it's really frustrating, thank you so much for your help though. I will give Mazda a call on Monday and try and get it sorted :)

  • If you do need a new fob and don't want to pay Mazda Stealer prices then make sure you get the same make. Afaik there are three manufacturers, Visteon, Siemens and Mitsubishi. The manufacturers name and model number are circled in this pic

I have a Mazda2 59 reg, bought new. It came with two identical keys, both like the one illustrated above.

I don't know why yours is different but we definitely only have (and have only ever had) one fob and one standard key

I have used a chap in Preston who was very helpful (repaired two VW Golf Remote Key fobs for £15 each)

Essentialy you post the key to him, he refurbs it the same day and posts it back same or next day. Mine had some dry joints that needed resoldering.

cant post links but search remotekefobrepairs (no spaces ) and his site come up first

We had a Mazda 2 57 plate which also came with a fob and a standard key.
