I went for a GCSE assessment for maths and english, but i didn't pass the maths. However, i took my English assessment nearly 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back from the teacher. I called the college at the end of last week and admin said they would get her to email me as she hasn't got around to marking the assessments yet.
Anyway, i haven't heard back and it's Sunday, but it won't deter me, as if i don't get in i will just find out how much a private tutor would cost and ask them to help me so i can apply for the GCSE exams independently. Whether i go to University or not, i still want those GCSE's in maths and english.0 -
You need to discuss medication or not with GP. It's like all the posters about broken legs/ cancer/ diabetes vs mental health and the stigma attached.
Tutors are NOT cheap- I have been charging up to £20 per hour and that is *cheap* in my area, especially if you're going to need two different tutors for the two subjects. Many colleges have access/ adult Literacy and numeracy courses which would probably be worth looking for, it may not be too late to apply for this year.
Are there any schools near you which would let you sit the exams as a private entry? What will you do about texts and controlled assessments ?0 -

I don't think i need a tutor for English, but the maths definitely! I went to this assessment; there was a big class of us and the teacher went through what the course would consist of. At the end of the run down of the course, she handed us a piece of paper and we had to write a letter within 20 mins to a council granting a licence for Glastonbury.
I don't understand how exactly from that, they can assess how you are up to standard to allow you on a course, but it seems this is the new procedure.
I basically need GCSE grade C or above to get on to an access course. It wasn't like this a year or two ago, but now they're tightening it up. I already have literacy and numeracy level 2, which i did nearly 3 years ago, but these qualifications are now obsolete.0 -
so happy for you Kingslayer, I really hope everything continues to go well xxx0

Swedish women are hot! Well done ladkingslayer wrote: »I took some advice and applied for volunteer vacancies, well i'm going to start a volunteering job next wednesday in a shop. I was looking different opportunities and this came up so i thought why not. I bit the bullet and have decided to go back on job seekers and see what they can do for me, as my savings are running out and i need money.
Also, i've started speaking to this girl and she's currently living in sweden. We have chatted a lot and last night we skyped. She lived in my area for 1 and half years as an au pair, but then left to go back to sweden, well, she is coming back later this month to work as an au pair again as she said she loves england. She said she would definitely go for a drink so we will do that when she is here.
I am going to start my driving lessons again next week and try get my self on the road after failing my test a couple months ago. I spent so much money on an intensive driving course so it was a bit knock to my confidence and financially.
I just need to get a decent job and find a way to get qualifications in a specific area of interest to help elevate my career prospects.
Sorry i have been a nuisance guys. I really feel like now my life is getting back on track and i feel really upbeat and happy about the future.
I really hope things go right and i continue on this path.
