Sold me a holiday using wrong reviews

    Interestingly the most recent review also mentions recommendation by TC.

    Maybe it is the case that the recent reviews are just a cluster of the dramatic TA reviews that you can find against every hotel...just all bunched together...but if the TC agent sold the holiday based on outdated reviews I would hope that the customer would have some rights to challenge the booking.

    But this is why I don't use TAs...in this case I do feel a bit sorry for the OP...as they trusted the TA to have relevant and current info and would have assumed (I should expect) that that is what was being presented to them.
    Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    I do tend to read hotel reviews and look to read between the lines for any complaints. Often it's a one-off disagreement with a waiter. Or a dislike of foreigners. Or simply ridiculously high expectations for a low budget.

    One of the more recent reviews concludes:
    Overall, the bad reviews are unjust. As this was one of the cheaper holidays we were looking at prior to booking, we weren't expecting to much - along with all the negative reviews. We loved it, not saying we would return but we met a few people who would. We felt the general consensus was positive whilst we were there. Don't take anything too seriously when you're there, it's cheap, cheerful, and gave my girlfriend and I a memorable beach holiday which we loved.

    While it's not an overwhelming endorsement a holiday is often what you choose to make of it.

    If you look on TripAdvisor the hotel is still known as the Sprinclub, and one review even says that outside the hotel there are three signs - sprinclub, one resort and another name so it's the same hotel and the reviews are for the same place. The reviews weren't exactly glowing 12months ago before the supposed name change so it's simply the fact that you were swayed by a cheap price, took the offer and now you've done your research you don;t want it anymore.

    We have taken a risk on some v cheap late booked hotels where the reviews were not very favourable & each one turned out to be absolutely fine, I think most people only do a review if they have a problem or think they have but most satisfied people just don't bother, some of the reviews have a tendency to be over dramatic about very little in my experience, so you may be giving yourself a lot of hassle unnecessarily, let the Agent know your views before departure on the salespersons possibly flawed info & if the holiday has any problems complain in resort & then on return, but hopefully all may well be fine, as someone mentioned the agent is merely a salesperson on commission, that should always be in your mind when buying anything
