  • West Norwood?
Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,
You don't even take him seriously,
How am I going to get to heaven?,
When I'm just balanced so precariously..
  • Anerley- , not yet trendy, but close enough to nicer areas to have an knock on effect (given time). ALso has good over ground mainline services into Central London.

    What are your priorities:
most bang for your buck now? or
capital appreciation in the long term?

The majority of areas in London will trend at some point or another:
Look at areas that were considered Sh1Teh0les say 20 years ago, are most sought after now.

make a short list , visit them, spend some time looking around, different times of the day can be very telling.

    oh and good luck

Heading further out, Bromley's substantially cheaper but the trains don't run as late and the night buses take longer (and are less frequent).

Odd place, Bromley. Sort of Eastenders in suburbia.
    Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
    House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY
  • West Norwood?

Looks good to me. I like the area around there and Gipsy Hill.
    Thanks!

Anerley is on the list. I agree that it will eventually go up and I think it's quite nice and currently in my price range...

Hmm... both!? I've got a very limited budget and no way of going over it but I'd potentially like to be able to move in the future so making some money on it could help... I'm not sure that makes any sense...

I think it's just off that road... in that the windows don't look out onto the main road but a road just off it... It's a second floor flat so further away from shop and road so might be okay... but yes, I hear what you're saying... I quite like the crazy busy arty feel of New Cross though and it's zone 2 and very well connected...

Not a perfect fit but that's probably why it's in my price range!

I know New Cross very well, let me know which road and I'll tell you what it's like, as I said, some parts are better than others!

You're making a big mistake, there are parts of the uk outside London where 200k is still worth something and you can live like a human being.

    Thanks!

I've lived here for 15 years now and seen vast improvements in the area.

There are some lovely period properties, nice tree lined streets and a good train service that will take you into London Bridge or Victoria in about 20 mins.

Only thing to note is that prices have shot up accordingly as it is surrounded by more desirable areas like Crystal palace and Dulwich.

Def worth a look though :)

Thanks! There doesn't seem to be much around at the moment but I'll get signed up with estate agents and see what turns up...

That £200k isn't going to go far :(

Maybe you could get somewhere in Newham or Barking or somewhere for that? But it will likely have to be a dump in a rundown area

Hard to find a place that will appreciate in value in that price bracket unless you are capable of skilfully doing up a hovel for a minimum expenditure

    good luck though.
