What don't you get mayo? Unless you sell and have the cash in your bank then what something is worth at a moment in time is just a figure on a piece of paper that can go down as well as up. So until actual time of selling the said thing hasn't actually made you any money.

I think the point is you're stating the obvious in a fashion that suggests you think you've suddenly deciphered the ancient lost art of investments.

Asking prices in August are now yesterday's news remember?

Halifax have said today that sold prices increased in August though. Highest since 2008 and about £9k above your April peak.

    My house made over £50k

In general, for those people whose houses "made" GBP50k, it's a shame their next house (unless downsizing) "made" in excess of this.....

My house didn't make anything, its doesn't have much creative flair.

Thinking about it, it stayed still the entire month, shame I can't get it to make me things while I am out.

It represents more of the market, more regions and is based on real sold prices. Compare and contrast to your daily property bee survey.

It's a nonsense thread granted but there really is a difference between wealth and liquidity.

this is of course total nonsense
what i did find quite satisfying to find though was looking at my mortgage statement
after around 6months of owning this home, £5k or so has been paid off the mortgage
that is £5k that would have been lining my landlord's pocket, so she can buy more houses to tell more people they can't a have a cat in their own home
