Bank account details are never used for a credit check (they use your name and address) - and comparison sites don't do credit checks in any case.
If you get one letter wrong in the address of Money Supermarket you end up at a completely different site.
Get back onto your bank now and make it clear that you did not authorise the transaction. Probably the initial transaction is just testing the water before they clear your account.0 -
This was the card I ended up going with - and also the only stage I had to enter my details (as far as I can recollect).

(I've put spaces in parts of that link).
My bank were not having any of it. She just kept reiterating that I put in my details so they could not raise a dispute.0 -
Under Payment Services Directive, they must cancel any CPA (excluding those that are already in the "payment" phase, typically 24 hours before the CPA is due) on your asking.0

I asked to cancel the CPA, but the lady said that as it was a 'one off payment' - they could not do that. I then asked what I would do if they are to take further payments from my account, to which she did not really have an answer. She was pretty useless to be honest.0

They should be able to tell if its a CPA as opposed to a one off payment, if its a one off payment then you'll need to find the broker website and follow their T&C's for a refund. (whilst pursuing your bank for an unauthorised debit)0

What does your statement show for that payment?
The MS site doesnt take payment and the BC one says no payment will be taken its only to verify your credit/identity.

I haven't applied anywhere else, I was looking to book a holiday on a credit card with 0% purchases, and repay over 3 months or so (found a stupidly low priced holiday).0 -

Yesterday I was having a mooch around MoneySupermarket.com for the best Credit Card. I picked one and have been approved for it, just waiting for the card to come now.
However, I've just checked my online banking and MS.com have debited £14.15 from my bank account? They aren't open to call and I want to know what the payment is for as soon as possible.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Natalie.
Hi Natalie_Emma,
In most cases, we'll be able to raise a dispute for you in relation to an unrecognised transaction. However, as one of my colleagues has already looked into this for you, it may be best to speak with MoneySupermarket today. They should be able to confirm the reason for the payment being taken.
After speaking with them, if you're no closer to clarifying the reason for the debit & it remains unrecognised, please get back in touch with PhoneBank (01733 347 007) ASAP.
Thanks,
