Noddle - my experience

Have toyed with the idea of getting a copy of my credit report for ages now, just out of curiosity.

Stumbled across Noddle and as a free for life credit-check, it seemed to good to be true. Did a bit of searching on the forum and kind of groaned when I realised this "free" product needed credit card details to verify me.

After searching on here for more info and finding that some people have subsequently had their cards charge I was left umm-ing and ahh-ing as to what to do.

I ended up taking the plunge and have to say first impressions are fantastic! Provided it really is free, the Noddle report is brilliant. Up to date info on all credit agreements and if I ever want to check the balance on my mortgage I need no longer wait for my bi-annual lenders statement, I can just log into Noddle.

The proof of the pudding will be in a month or so's when I can see if any payments have been taken from my card. In the meantime I will give then the benefit of the doubt!!

They don't take payments unless you upgrade to the paid service. The card info is just for verification you are you. Worth getting the £2 reports off the other two every so often especially when house buying. I agree, great service for free the others should do the same.

I can concur with the above poster.

With the other 2 you can sign up to the free trial. Saves you £4 as long as you remember to cancel before the 30 days.

"if I ever want to check the balance on my mortgage I need no longer wait for my bi-annual lenders statement, I can just log into Noddle."

Exactly what I do! (and it's an annual statement for my mortgage)
  • The majority of my information is not on Noddle so I find it an unreliable source of information.

I checked Noddle and then I decided to get my reports from Experian and Equifax which were much more detailed and far more informative. Noddle had no information on me in my previous surname.

I would recommend checking on all the CRA's as they can hold different information.
  • Doh! Meant to say that my mortgage statement is twice yearly, not bi-annual.

Noddle is updated a month behind the other agencies so any balances will not be current

I found that noddle had updated in line with the other agencies, when a new report was viewable, but the perceived lag was due to the fact that a new snapshot of your callcredit data is/was only available once per month, so it feels like it is often behind.

Others may have had a different experience with their accounts.

Never had anything taken off my card either. Some people have reported it, but it seems likely to be a rare mistake or the initial teething problems that occurred with noddle back when it started when there seemed a small spike in cases. With all these things, people are infinitely more likely to come on forums and post about problems like that than they are that things worked as expected.

A lot of people in this forum have reported the difficulty in canceling it. You could only do it over the phone, not online like the way you did when you register. They deliberately make it hard to unsubscribe.

So for people where time is prime pay 2x£2 is a better alternative.
  • I have personally found them pretty poor. They gave me completely opposite information compared to what Experian did

I personally find the information hold by Noodle is the same with Experian and Equifax. All of my accounts, close accounts which are shown on Experian and Equifax are also shown on Noddle...

My experience is the same - Noddle generally has the same data as Equifax and Experian. The only variation is down to their 'once a month' snapshot (as fermi mentioned) - it sometimes misses updates from lenders but always catches up the next month.

Never been charged anything by them either.
