Can anyone help me,I have recently checked my credit file and found a default from santander on there from 2012,I had a unauthorised payment leave my bank account at the time and told santander I never made the payment, they carried on by saying it was my fault.
2 years later the account balance is £869 and defaulted, obviously this is there charges on there.
could anyone help me and advise me if I have a leg to stand on to battle this out??
many thanks

I'm not sure what you can do at this stage, by just ignoring the problem for so long you could be argued to have accepted their decision.0
-
Perhaps you can tell us exactly what happened?0

A card payment left my account which I didnt authorise, they told me there was nothing they could do,so after many attempts told them to close the account, which the assistant agreed too doing,so cut up my card thinking it was done with.
check my credit file to find the default on there,I had no overdraft on the account,it was a current account but without a overdraft0 -
Walking away from the account does resolve anything at all. Other than contact the bank what action have you taken.0

I havnt took any action as I have only just found the bloody thing!!!0

What you mean is that you had no arranged overdraft, nearly all current accounts will go overdrawn if the bank decides to honour a payment that is presented to them if the account doesn't have enough money - it's one of their big ways of making money from people who don't pay enough attention to their finances.0 -
I have spoken to the not so polite people at santander apparently I made a withdrawl out of the account in may 2011 and left my account in credit, they had put charges on my account from the previous month of £125 which they tryed taking which left my account overdrawn, they never notified me of these charges, they left the account open till December 2011 which incurred charges of £100 a month, which dropped it into default then they decided to close my account.
now I dont know if I am right here but surely I can get this account back to the original charges surely.
any help would be apprichated many thanks0 -

I contacted the bank in regards to the card payment they assured me they had stopped but they hadnt0

...........And you never ever received any letters or statements at all?
All they have to do is show that they were sent: an electronic trail will show this, they do not have to prove they were delivered, and your argument falls down.0
