Laptop return - bought from John Lewis Shop

Hi,
I went into a John Lewis Store a week ago and asked for some advice on buying a laptop that would satisfy my need to check emails, watch youtube, basic web browsing etc.
On the advisor's advice I bought a laptop in store, I took it home and on the first use the videos on youtube were 'juddery' and slow (definitely not my broadband speed btw more graphics quality).
I have kept the packaging and receipt, should I be able to get a return/exchange in store on this laptop as in my view its not fit for purpose (or even mis-sold)?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Can you let us know what the make and model is. There shouldn't even be a laptop on the market that struggles to play Youtube videos.0

Hi,
Its an Acer ES1-511. Bottom end of the market, I know, but agree would expect it to at least play videos without juddering.0 -
But would I be within my rights to ask for an exchange or refund? Whilst not necessarily faulty it has not met my expectations. The box has been opened but the machine is as new and the rest of the packaging intact?0
-
It will possibly be Windows updates running in the background causing the problem.0

It's a new laptop and a shed load of updates are almost certainly running in the background which you should be expecting and this will affect performance particularly on an entry level laptop.0

The machine is now used.
I think you will struggle to get any recompense from JL.
You might have been given advice but you chose the laptop which I would imagine JL would say is fit for purpose.
Unless of course it has a fault0 -
A pocket calculator has enough computing power to run you tube (slight exaggeration) whatever the problem is, it's not the computer.0
-
Windows Updates aside, are you trying to stream high HD videos...which your confidence in your internet speed comment might be a factor...0
-
Are you using Wi-Fi or is it plugged in? That could also be an issue.0

Why not just phone them or take it instore to see what they say.0
