When you open a case ebay "hold" the money in the seller s account until the outcome is decided. If the case goes in your favour, which it sounds like it should, then you will have her frozen funds returned to you.

upload your tracking details to the resolution centre and once the parcel is showing as delivered and delivery attempted message the seller via the resolution centre asking the seller to refund (if she hasnt already) if your request is ignored or she tries too mess you about then simply escalate the case to have it reviewed by ebay and get your money back.

id also leave negative but accurate (no personal insults) and factual feedback.
  • Thanks.

I've just spoken to the resolution centre as you've both mentioned they have held on to the money until the case is solved they also say she hasn't as yet responded to them. I have added the tracking number onto the case and have messaged the seller explaining this to her (no response back as yet!). Hopefully she will receive the jacket tues/wed and it will all be over. Just gets to me that people can't be honest it puts me off buying anything of significant value on Ebay which is a shame:(

It's just that the item you bought can be bought as fake quite cheaply( I'm guessing it's a quilted one not a waxed one). There are certain items you shouldn't buy off ebay
  • Yes Hollydays your right it was a quilted one. I will need to be a bit more aware next time and as the saying goes 'buy cheap buy twice!!'

Also, try and do all communication via the resolution centre, as opposed to direct emails or phone conversations.

I'm not sure what the law says on return fees for individuals, as opposed to commercial sellers.

If they sell you "a lie" they are legally responsible for returning your money - you have zero obligation in law to return the item to them let alone pay for its return - if they want it back you can telll them to fetch it - you can also dump it in the street after giving them "fair warning"
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

Ebay need to start enforcing the law if they don't want to lose customer confidence

I would personally angle for that, but I didn't now the law covered it.

In the past I have told the sender the item is here and they are welcome to arrange collection. I have also once had ebay give me the cost of return postage as a "goodwill" gesture.

Believe me they can fake the wax ones just as well.
