Hi
I had applied for a barclaycard inital 2 years ago and got one. However in January I had been struggling with my finances so I decided that last month I would set the minimum payment on a direct debit which was for 104. Come tuesday of this week I was able to pay off the full balance and went online to do so. To my shock they had closed my account but would still take payments through Barclays.
I am wondering if I ask them to reopen my account and accept the full payment would they re open it??

I would expect it is unlikely, but nothing to lose by asking them.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

doubt they will, strange how they just closed itDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I know didnt even let me pay by direct debit I even offered the full amount!!!0

Are you sure they closed it? I would have expected you to get a letter through the post.
It's not just some online/IT issue?0 -
Hmmm, OP mentions they've been "struggling" with their finances since January. I wonder if that struggle has appeared on their credit report and given Barclaycard the jitters.0

They closed it, Apparently the account is still with barclays to pay them but my credit card has been closed. I want to know why I wasnt given the chance to pay it as my direct debit was for monday of this week0

Any late/missed payments (with initial or elsewhere)? Did you go above your credit limit? Did you draw a lot of cash?
Just as you are entitled to close a CC account you don't want anymore, CCs are also free to close accounts. They can do this simply because they don't think they can make any profit out of you, because they think you are a bad risk, or for other commercial reasons. They have a pretty free hand, though data protection and other regulations mean there has to be a degree of fairness in the way they do it.0 -

Did you pay at least the minimum (by whichever method) between January and August, or is there half a year of no payments at all?0 -
They last recieved a payment in March but they said it was too late to clear the debt and start again!0
