New 2014 Moto G available from today

It doesn't have that, just the bottom is the speaker.0

It seems that Motorola have gone backwards with the new release. The two appealing features of the previous Moto G were its price, and that it was a (borderline) phone sized phone. Now it's just cheap and has lost its size advantage. They should have stuck with the same screen size and upped the specs that actually matter (processor, ram, GPU).0

it states stereo sound, so presume they would be spaced apart

The new specs are based on feedback from users of the original Moto G. Like it or not, it seems smartphone buyers in general are interested in bigger screens (even Apple seem to have got the message) so why would Motorola release a phone that only appealed to a niche market? And if you want a 5" screened smartphone that performs like a smartphone should then the new Moto G is once again the budget choice.
PS The specs aint far off the iPhone 5 specs (in some areas better in some areas not) for £400 less!! A no-brainer really.0 -

Well Motorola certainly didn't ask me what I wanted! It's no skin off my nose, it just means Motorola loses me as customer.0 -
The Amazon link posted above describes the new phone as 'MOTOROLA MOTO G (2ND GEN) 2014 XT1068 DUAL SIM 8GB BLACK FACTORY UNLOCKED [SIM 1 : 2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900 | 3G 850/900/1700/1900/2100 + SIM 2 : 2G ONLY)' (Sorry for the caps, they're Amazon's.)
If I understand correctly, the 2nd SIM's performance at 2G is likely to be inferior to the first SIM. Have I understood correctly?
Thanks.0 -

You have it correct, the second sim is 2G only, so really for a voice/text sim use only.====0 -

They didn't ask me either. The current (old) G is just the right size so I'll be sticking with it for the time being.
I could use the dual sim though.0 -

Given the fact that you recently stated you 'can't wait to get back to IOS' I'm suspecting Motorola won't be too worried.
I'll be interested to see your reaction should Apple catch up with the times and release their own '5 incher':D 0 -

Well the iPhone redeems itself by at least having a decent operating system. Better to have a huge iOS device than a huge Android device!0
