I am having difficulty with Photobucket trying to post a pic on here. I don't know what I am doing wrong but it will only let me post the link not the image, any help much appreciated.

The Cut and paste option suggested by chris should work but if not, try this:
Go to Photobucket and open the photo that you want and to the right of it you will see a panel marked as "share links"
One of the options is "Direct link".
Click on this "direct link" using your left mouse button and this will copy it.
The when posting on MSE, you will see a series of tabs above the box where you type, and left click on the image tab (it's the 4th from the right).
This will open the image box. Delete the "http://" that is in the box then put the cursor in the empty box, right click and choose "paste". This will enter the photobucket link details.
Then when you post, the photo should appear.0 -

The box you click on (in MSE forum) to insert an image in a post looks like
. What you put IN the popup box that appears is the web link to the image itself.
The image above actually looks like this in text form (ignoring the spaces around the IMG words) ...

There is no need to confuse the issue by adding unnecessary extra spaces and then telling people to ignore them!.
Post it accurately:
