I don't understand. Your roots show really quickly but your hair grows really slowly because of your thyroid?

    How does that work?

So you would be happy with being served a hair in the food if it was free? :p

Also, It's not really free - the hair colourist was using the OP as a model for advertising (i don't think there are many philanthropic hair colourists).

I think that Arcon was more picking up on pinkshoes claim that this was a "First World Problem".. I think all complaints on this board could be deemed First World.

I wouldn't be bothered - I didnt pay for it after all. Wouldnt visit the restaurant again but that would be it. IMO the two situations aren't close enough to be trying to draw parallels from them. For one, there are no hygiene issues here like there are with hair in soup.

Also I dont recall model for advertising ever being said - I do recall OP saying it was for a training day - and imo expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

Again - different if you pay as then you're not getting what you paid for.

Why would your roots not need touching up for a slightly lighter red? it's not as if grey and any shade of red are a close match so the problem exists with any colour you choose.

Bottom line is that you only have to live with it for a few weeks then do a new box colour and all is well in the world again.

As I said in my last post the colour difference is very significant. If I dye the roots with a lighter colour it will not blend with the darker colour of the rest of my hair. I do not want to have two tone hair.

I am not asking for advice on what to do with the colour. I have been colouring my hair for over thirty years and am fairly competent at it and have a pretty good idea of what is/isnt possible.

All I want to know is my legal position ie. can I insist my hair is corrected to the colour I originally asked for (and what it was before I entered the salon)?

Your legal position was explained earlier - you have no contract with the rep. Any potential liability is with the owner of the salon.
  • If it was any other salon, you'd be back down there complaining, and one of their own hairdressers would put it right. The fact that it's your friends salon doesn't change that. It's her salon, her responsibility.

As you're both a friend and a customer, I would have thought she'd have been doubly mortified that you've gone away unhappy, and would have had you back round there like a shot to sort it out for you.

Dye it all grey. Problem solved.
  • Can't offer more advice than others have already given. But I have every sympathy with you. I usually take a box of Clairol Root Touch Up on holiday but forgot this summer. So I bought a box from a Spanish supermarket. Thought I was buying light brown but actually it was dark. Very dark. And I now have the same problem. My hairdresser is due to colour my hair next week so I'll see what she advises.

My hairdresser recommended a hair mascara to me a while ago and I love it for those times when the grey is quite prominent but my hairdresser's appointment is still a week or two away. This is the one I use (not recommending this seller though as I buy it from a small shop in Nottingham):

I know this is a first world problem. I am currently dealing with a DH who's been seriously I'll for three years. During that time I've suffered from 6 bereavements of really close family and friends but my roots still get me down, and I'm no glamour puss.

    Hope you get it sorted.

Apologies - it was a model for training instead. I agree that expectations should be adjusted, however they still have a duty of care to perform what was agreed.
  • I've always assumed that if I go to a hairdresser on their training days I can't complain if it goes pear shaped.

Only did it once and I vowed there and then never again
