The Traffic Offence Report clearly states to wait until they contact you.dave030445 wrote: »Don't be a Pratt What are they going to say. Oh yes sorry sir we forgot about you thanks for reminding us here is you ticket. they don't just forget about people.
They are bureaucracies, things can be forgotten or get lost in system.
I don't think I need to incriminate myself and remind them, it's not my responsibility.0 -
;66425389]Your decision. The risk is that if they've sent you a COFP which has gone astray for some reason, their next step if they don't hear from you will be to issue a summons.
Maybe, maybe not, maybe they have forgotten.shaun_from_Africa wrote: »If they have posted something to you then it is deemed to have been delivered unless you can prove otherwise so contacting them to check if this is the case would be in your best interest.
I'll contact, making sworn statement I did not receive letter with Fixed Penalty if they say they sent.0 -

.
Eh? But you said above that it states "If you do not receive information within 3 weeks of today, please contact:"
Which is it?
Anyway, you're not incriminating yourself, you've already been "nicked". If you're guilty, it's better to get the fixed penalty than to wait for a court summons.0 -

It says both those things,
the first is to wait until they contact you:
"We will write to you in the near future advising you about how it is proposed to deal with the alleged offence specified overleaf.
You are advised to take no action until you receive this letter"
the second is a request to contact them:
"If you do not receive information within 3 weeks of today, please contact:"
It's certainly not my responsibility to remind them to fine or prosecute me !
6 weeks and still not heard anything.0 -
3 possibilities
1. A FPN has been sent and has gotten lost in the post, unless you contact them the next thing you recieve may well be a summons.
2. They have decided not to bother with it, you don't have to do anything.
3. They have not gotten around to it yet, you don't have to do anything at this point.
Take your pick0 -
Or it's been forgotten or lost in the bureaucracy of police force or another reason/mistake they can't process.tberry6686 wrote: »3 possibilities

It's unlikely they would not at least issue FPN to make some money and add to stats and
TOR suggests it should have been dealt with by now.0 -
A fourth possibility is that they've decided against a COFP and are going to summons, and have either neglected to write or the letter has gone astray.
They have six months from the date of the alleged offence to lay information at court, so the OP may be kept in suspense for some time yet.0 -

The police officer said it would be Fixed Penalty and it's 3 weeks past their suggested date.
We'll see.0 -
You cannot go on the word of the officer. He could have given you the FPN on the spot. The police officer said it would be Fixed Penalty and it's 3 weeks past their suggested date.
We'll see.
Why not contact them and sort it out - or if you don't want to sit back and wait out the six months.0
