Advice on misrepresentation of hotel

See if this helps out. This is how I dealt with a misrepresented hotel.

Not exactly the same scenario, but similarities can be drawn.

These two cases are entirely different.0 -
Is it worth a £85 gamble?
You have less of a leg to stand on in that you were told of the slippers etc after making the booking.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0 -
Just a side note - this is why I don't use 'secret' or 'mystery' deals sites any more, I've had some very bogus 'deals'. I use Trivago now - at least you can see if a deal is worth having, I've been much happier since, and still had some real bargains.0

spikeachu - I'm impressed that you took it so far and won - well done! I do think your situation was worse than mine though - and having looked at your link, I agree that confirmation email was misleading!
As for myself - I would like to thank those of you who offered help.
With hindsight I can see I was very naive. I'm not a great traveller, and honestly didn't know there were many different star ratings systems. This was a special weekend for us and we spent a lot of money on it. We were genuinely disappointed with the hotel and with the initial response from lastminute.com complaints dept. Our weekend was significantly spoiled by this and we won't be able to afford another holiday for some time. It was a big deal to me and I genuinely felt I had been misled.
I've now dealt with lastminute.com's UK complaints dept., and they were understanding and helpful. I am now able to see their side as well as my own. We have come to an amicable agreement, and although the weekend was ruined and we can't afford to do it again, I feel the refund they have offered is reasonable and fair in the circumstances. I'm wiser now and will be more careful in future
