Advice on misrepresentation of hotel

I don't understand, you say the room facilities weren't listed on the website. You must have seen photos , it must have looked luxurious or you wouldn't have booked.
Edit-secret hotel-doesn't have photos
With it being in London, the prices are going to be higher.
I once was booked into a hotel in Scotland which was horrendous, about two star and filthy , but they had self classified themselves as four star. The person who booked it mainly went by the photos which were terribly out of date , judging it by the coloured lights in the garden on building facade which looked charming.
I do think you are letting the star rating thing bamboozle you. I've stayed in a few four stars in London, I wouldn't call any if them luxurious, but nice ,ok , or plush in parts.
Star ratings and words like luxurious mean nothing.0 -
So where did the link take you when you clicked on it?
It took me to a screen within the lastminute website. I printed the page and it shows the hotel description at the top, confirms checking in time, pets policy, smoking policy etc. Then has a list of 'property' facilities (air con, reception, wifi etc), then a list of 'room' facilities, which includes those I mentioned above.I don't understand, you say the room facilities weren't listed on the website. I didn't see any photos until after I had booked and then there were only 3 I think - showing reception and the restaurant, which look very posh, and one shot of a bed where all you can see is the bed itself and the back wall. It's cleverly presented and does look good - but when you get there of course the room doesn't look that good.0 -
Oh sorry yes secret hotel -forgot that bit0

So the link in the email DID lead you to the lastminute website then? Is that link still active? Did the link contain any information specific to your booking like date, names, order number etc, or was it just generic 'hotel description at the top, confirms checking in time, pets policy, smoking policy etc'0

Yes the link is still active.
Now that I look at it closely, it doesn't quote my booking ref so I guess it must be generic information about the hotel... which nevertheless is wrong. It doesn't say that the facilities are not available in all rooms - and even if it did, we were upgraded and still didn't get them. The way I see it, if you are told your hotel room has slippers and a bathrobe etc that suggests a certain level of luxury. You don't get that sort of thing in Travel Lodge so the idea of a hotel with a bathrobe and slippers sounds really posh to me.0 -
But you didn't find out about the 'slippers, bathrobe, fruit and mineral water etc.' until after you had booked.*Rainbow*Warrior* wrote: »You don't get that sort of thing in Travel Lodge so the idea of a hotel with a bathrobe and slippers sounds really posh to me.
Therefore that cannot be seen as an inducement to buy.
Others have already pointed out that 'luxury' and '4-star' are subjective.
Not sure that leaves a lot.
I think I would settle for the £50.0 -
There has been no misrepresentation, within the meaning of the Act or otherwise.
The hotel was 4 star, according to the system operated by them, no inducements in the form of slippers etc were offered pre-contract so cannot possibly amount to an inducement. Your own admitted lack of experience is of no impact.

OP did not even ask for the bathrobe and slippers.0

I don't think you'll get anywhere op as facilities are not listed so you can't complain about that. Lastminutes star rating seems clear enough. I'm not sure if this link will work as I've just done a search on their website but when I clicked the star's I got this pop up http://www.lastminute.com/trips/popup/starRatingDefinitions?ac_city=London&pTxId=10662337&checkInDate=2014-09-04&checkOutDate=2014-09-05&guestCounts=2&guestCodes=ADULT&propertyIds=1000786187-1-5-GH%3A1%24v1v%24&skipGuestDetails=true&configId=S72722479&city=London%2C+United+Kingdom&numRooms=1&numNights=1&dest=LON&path=hotels&ac_country=GB&topSecretSearch=true&hotelRequestId=324703370792190&showHotelType=TSH
It say's quite clearly there how their rating system works.0 -
See if this helps out. This is how I dealt with a misrepresented hotel.

Not exactly the same scenario, but similarities can be drawn.
