  • JJ, hopefully February will be shorter. We are both working Valentines nights so will miss out but we should move in shortly afterwards.

Its been a pretty quiet start to the month thankfully. The following bills came out

    1st Feb - £750.00 - Joint Account
    1st Feb - £35.00 - Loan Over-payment
    1st Feb - £25.00 - ISA Transfer / Emergency Fund
    3rd Feb - £17.37 - Vodafone phone bill
    3rd Feb - £37.50 - Fuel Purchase

Delighted my phone bill was a bit less this month. I will phone up Nationwide and check that the small over-payment went through to the loan.

Shouldn't have any big spends at all this week. Been working a lot recently but haven't had any overtime. I've also been bringing lunch to work which is very unusual for me :rotfl:

Registered for the halfords cycle to work scheme today so should hopefully hear back this week as to what bike I can get for what amount per month. If I get something for under £25 a month and its a decent bike I will be delighted.

Need to look at energy tariffs now... such grown up work :o

How exciting, not long at all now until you get the keys :D

Sounds like now is a great time to look at energy tariffs. MSE are running their big winter switch event which might help you save something, and with companies cutting prices it's a great time for you to be sorting it out!
  • :j WE GOT THE KEYS :j

Delighted with the house, it even looks bigger now it is empty :D

Set up our broadband the other day and we paid for our line rental in advance for the next year, very MSE. I even got about £70 through TCB ;)

Also signed up to British Gas for our electric supply. Paying by monthly direct debit. We now have council tax to sort out along with TV licence. Nearly there though

I've done well this month so far with regards to my own finances. Haven't spent anything yet but OH and I are looking to book our yearly trip away soon so that will be a hefty expense that creeps up.

I've nearly completed my application for a bike through the government cycle to work scheme. I will update with prices when it all goes through ok!

6 Nations Rugby starts tonight, I'm afraid there will be no spreadsheet updates on my savings challenge :rotfl:

  • OK so me and OH booked our holiday way in advance for August. We got it cheap for where we are going so we cant complaint too much. Some might think we (I) shouldn't been booking a holiday due to my situation, but its to go and visit family members plus we got a voucher to get cheap tickets so it had to be used.

We ended up putting all the bookings on the joint account card, but we have just halved the total and both paid £175.00 into the joint account to compensate :D

Also noticed that Ebay sent me an invoice for £5.29. It must have been for the items I sold last month so I paid that today.

Between the holiday, Ebay fees and my netflix/xbox live monthly bills, I've spent my monthly allowance. There will be no more significant spending this month.

Ahh I nearly forgot, OH and I have agreed to spend £20.00 on each other for valentines day. So that will be another bill eek :o

I so hope there is overtime in my wage this month. I don't want to have another month in the red like last month.

Love 6 Nations Rugby. Screaming for Scotland to win tonight ;)

  • Ok so this week has gone pretty well. We move into the new house next week. I'm so excited!

Here are my outgoings since my last update:

    10/02/2015 - £19.99 - Fuel
    10/02/2015 - £5.99 - Xbox Live
    11/02/2015 - £20.50 - Valentines Present
    12/02/2015 - £307.41 - Loan 1
    12/02/2015 - £20.00 - Fuel

Its already been an expensive month with the holiday being booked. Hopefully I shouldn't have to spend much more on fuel as I picked up my bike today.

I managed to go through the cycle to work forms all ok and finally after days of thinking, pick a bike. It should only cost me between £25-£30 a month off my monthly wage but for the exercise if gives me, its worth it :D

Joint account had been going mental with buying everything for the house. We finally found out that the mortgage wont come out until March so were very happy with that. It means we can purchase a few things extra thing month but obviously not spend all our cash.

I managed to cash out a TCB payment so i'll update when it arrives in the bank. Might stick it over to the emergency fund.

I phoned Nationwide yesterday and they confirmed that my over payment did go onto my loan so that's good news.

Everyone is out tonight so I have the TV to myself :j

  • My yearly xbox live expired yesterday and I'm looking around for another one; I snoop the hotukdeals boards and they often have them on there for £22-£25 per year, cheaper than doing it monthly but it still stings though!!

  • Hello everyone. Just a quick update as im in a 3g zone :j

House move went great. We are all settled in. Have no internet though till the end of the month but I don't suppose its the worst situation in the world.

Finances are doing ok, Car loan came out along with a £10 I withdrew for food and another £3.25 in Tesco

My TCB payment of £21.47 arrived in my account so that's a little boost :D

Waiting on Loan 2 coming out in the next few days to see what I'll be left with till payday. I've stopped using the car and been cycling to the office/shops.

Even turned my nectar points into Ebay vouchers and bought some filing cabinets to file away our paperwork. Mr Organised is what shes calling me these days :rotfl:

Anyway, I hope my internet is set up soon, I'm missing MSE...:o

  • Wow nearly 3 weeks without an update. I nearly forgot I had a diary. We had no internet for 2 weeks, which was actually quite bliss I have to say. Me and OH spend some time together and got ourselves moved in nicely.

    End of February Update

Outgoings - £587.81 (2 Loans and Car Loan)
Spending - £306.35 (Did include booking our holiday)
    Fuel - £97.49
    Mobile - £17.37
    Joint Account - £750.00

    Total expenses - £1759.03

    Wages for February - £1831.61

    Total saved - £72.59

    My Current Cash Total - :j £3276.24 :j

Absolutely delighted with this as I paid for my Xmas night out in advance and also booked our holiday for later on in the year.

Out of the small amount saved, £25 of it went into the ISA to build it up. I use it as my emergency savings and i'm trying to get it to £2,000.

My wage was boosted my overtime thought, which helped out alot. My personal banking has been quiet lately, but most things are coming out the house account, which has been really busy with lots and lots of purchases.

My car needs a service.. Oh the joys of motoring.

  • So after phoning the garage to book the car in for a service and MOT, I was told that my service was major and would cost £295 without VAT. I swiftly told them where to go lol :rotfl:

I have spoken to someone for a homer and they will do it on the cheap so it should save a decent bit of money.

OH put an extra £100 into the joint account this month as it was running a bit low with all our recent purchases. The first mortgage payment came out and it was alot bigger than what the normal payments are going to be. I either find another £100 or she puts in less next month....

Signed into TCB today to see a nice surprise that £73.50 was payable so that was swiftly withdrawn to the bank account. Should take a week or so.

No other payments or expenses yet, spent the last of my cash today on fuel so anything else will go on the card.
