Right. Where do I start?
Holiday was fantastic. Can't wait to go back at some point. Very nice place and was so romantic. Brought back some Euros which I changed back and got £60.00 for. Some of that went to my fuel and the rest to my staff night out, however spent another £36.29 on my card for alcohol purchases.
Been spending like no tomorrow . I've finished my Xmas shopping though so that's a bonus. Now to wrap everythingI have a huge family so Xmas always costs a fortune for me. No one knows my financial situation anyway so I'd rather pay the extra costs and suffer for a month that anyone to be disappointed with their presents.
Loan 1 and Car loan came out last week so the accounts looking bare. Gym also came out at its standard £19.00. I can't list all my payments as I would be here all night :-(
Was back at the bank today and opened a joint account with my partner to use for the house bills. She paid the mortgage fee of £495.00 so I owe her half of that. We're being very MSE and paying it out the way rather than adding it to the mortgage. It's amazing what being on the forum does to your financial thinking.
Offer has been verbally accepted by the sellers. Just waiting for written conformation now. The bank has been excellent and should give us the mortgage offer next week
The solicitor seems very efficient and was the cheapest we could find. Still a fortune though. Obviously we have to pay that aswell once it's all complete so that will be a fair chunk of money each.
I'm dreading my monthly update as there is about 40 transactions in my bank account already this month. Been a really bad month financially but with the holiday and Xmas it can't be helped.
Working all this week so shouldn't spend a thing hopefully.
I'm really hoping that there is overtime on my wage this month. Could really do with it. Maybe they will give me an unexpected bonus (doubt it)
How is everyone?

What a whirlwind, glad you had a lovely holiday and fantastic news on the house you sound so organised and have planned everything so I'm sure there will be no problems.
I heard today that the average Xmas costs £700-£800! Not in my house I can assure you, I tend to spend a bit more on birthdays, however should I actually put my saving away every day I might actually splash out on an extra stocking filler next year!
Hope you have a good week and all the paperwork comes through OK
C xLoan from Mum £500/£300
DH computer £270.06/PAID :T
Kids computer £854.33/46.18
Bike £276.15/118.35
Overdraft £1192/0
Car £5374.04/316.12 :eek:0 -
Thanks Chrysalis1976. Your right about Xmas, it's a bloody fortune. Thanks for the lovely words about the house, it's a great time for me at the moment
Well everyone, here is the dreaded Xmas update. It's been an expensive month. I've finished my Xmas shopping thankfully, which came to a grand total of £530.71. Pretty gutted that I spent so much but never mind.
My other spends this month besides Xmas so far comes to £269.18, however most of this was my Euro's for Paris.
My fuel so far stands at £132.95 but I reckon il need another fill up before January so that will go up a chunk.
I've managed to save a little this month. I've transferred £37.96 over to my ISA just to bump up the balance a bit. I also have some change/coins at home as part of my "Save for Xmas 2015" thread. I hope to save all my change and use this for next Xmas and then any extra money going into my ISA is my own savings.
Pretty sure I mentioned it on my last update but my partner paid the product fee for our mortgage. Today I paid £495.00 into the joint account so were even.
We've also paid for the house insurance up front tonight which came out of the joint account. Even managed to get a decent amount of money back via TopCashBackIt means no monthly payments and another payment ticked off the list.
Although it does mean my account looks bare. Especially with not being paid yet. January will be a VERY MSE month as all our money will be going on furniture/solicitor.
Our plan is to contribute £750.00 each into the joint account every month to cover everything household related. This should cover all bits and bobs we need to buy along with most furniture. So from January il be skint 24/7
Although, we are bloody still waiting for a written acceptance letter, I'm going to chase this up tomorrow
Hopefully all will go smooth. Should get keys early February and once painting is done etc, move in at the end of February.
Will update end of month with full figures and savings totals.
Hope everyone is going to have a great Xmas and I really wish it snows again

Hi Mr CF I've just read through your diary and it's great to see you getting your head round this money lark at your age. That's not meant to be patronising, I really am pleased for you as I was 50odd before it dawned on me how much I had wasted in interest and just buying "stuff" for no reason.
I was wondering though what loans 1 and 2 were for, loan 1 you would only have been about 19 when you borrowed £15500? Is there anything you could sell? I hope your move goes well, it's great to have your own place.
I've joined your savings thread, it seems really popular so you will be too busy with that to spend any money in 2015! Have a great Christmas - next one will be in your own home! SF xMFIT -T5 #420 -

Hi there. I initially borrowed the money for an expensive car, which I bought and then sold 10 months later. That's what has put me in this position along with other silly purchases
I don't really have anything else to sell, however I shouldn't have to purchase anything in the next few months other than stuff for the house.
Thanks for joining the savings thread
It really is excellent, it should hopefully enable a lot of people to save a lot towards Xmas for 2015.
Thanks for your nice words, it's appreciated

Evening everyone
Here is my last December update. It's a big one but I will shorten it down so it's easier to understand.
I've calculated up my spends and had a count of all the transactions. There is 40 transactions in my account in relation to spends (not bills)
The first thing to talk about is how much I spent on Christmas. This came in about £550.00. If I add on my Euros for Paris and other spends for myself, my total spends came in at £838.88. Now I know this is rather excessive, but I was on holiday and includes everything for Xmas.
I thankfully underspent on my fuel this month. I only spent £132.95. This is the only bit of good news.. :rotfl:
Both loan 1 and 2 came out no problem along with the car finance, gym and phone bill.
My partner paid for the mortgage fee so I put the equivalent into our new house current account. So that was another £495.00 out of my account.
In total this month, I have basically overspent by £492.78. Theoretically, if I hadn't put money to the joint account, I would have saved a pound or two :rotfl:
Now for the most important figure. At the beginning of the month I had £3709.91, but after this month I now have £3217.12. This includes £1037.96 in the ISA and the rest in the current account.
Been speaking with the solicitor this week. Final bits of paperwork being completed along with the mortgage offer being accepted by solicitors. Home insurance purchased and paid in full
Got some vouchers and money for Xmas but this was spent on new clothes. Got myself some right bargains. I've eaten all my chocolate though :rotfl:
Hope everyone is alive and well

My first 2015 update. Here's to a good year :j
OH and I are going furniture shopping tomorrow to get a table/chairs and couch for the new house.
Obviously we are on a tight budget but we won't skimp. We do still like our luxury
There is quite a bit in the joint account now as today both OH and I put in another £750.00 each. This came from my current account so il have to behave now. The realist of having to lay for everything ourselves has hit hard as we nearly forgot about the solicitors bill when budgeting :rotfl:
My own personal spends shouldn't be high this month other than me spending £48.99 on amazon tonight for something I wanted (not needed) for the games console. Soon as I bought it I regretted it. I will try to sell a few things to get that money back.
Out of interest, when do we contact the phone service provider. Do we just phone up on the days we get the keys and say we want to use their services?
Should go to bed, up at 9...

I've been wandering tesco on my lunch breaks picking stuff up, putting it down. Picking reduced stuff up, putting it down. Both darts I walked out without buying anything haha. Staff must think I'm mental. :rotfl:
Added 2 items to ebay and I reckon il get £40 between them so it should near enough cover my item which I bought.
Fuelled up tonight but only spent £36.00.
It's great fuel is getting so cheap, I'm saving quite a bit. Might revise my budget
Payday seems so far away.
OH and I bought our new couch the other day. £585.00 later oops. House is legal binding now so no pulling out. 3
Exciting timesSaving for that dream holiday0 -
Today has been a great day :j:j:j
Last week I had a massive clear out before moving. I kept 2 items behind for Ebay as I though they would make £10 each at the most, which is better than nothing.
The listings have ended and I can proudly report that one sold for £31.00 and the other for £22.00. It just goes to show what junk people want on Ebay. Postage cost me £5.60 so I've cleared over £40 by the time Ebay take their fees off
I have even better news! My grandparents play the local raffle for me every week without fail and today she phoned me to tell me that I had won £100.00:D:D
Obviously I will use some of that on them to show my appreciation for buying the tickets in the first place.
And more good news, £20.00 appeared in my TopCashBack account after a long 3 month wait from my Car Insurance. I will get this into my bank this week.
Not heard from the solicitor yet this week.... But OH and I did buy a table and chairs for £280.00. Still plenty left in the joint account so we're on track.
It's snowing again, which means staying inside and not spending money!!!
MrCFSaving for that dream holiday0 -
Another week passed, only a few weeks till we get the keys
Haven't done much this weekend. I've used the cash from the raffle winnings to pay for fuel and some treats so my account looks pretty decent. I transfered £50.00 from my paypal into my bank account from my ebay sales. I will sort out my Top Cash Back this weekend..
Transferred just over 10 pounds to the ISA so my balance now stands at £1050.00.
Will probably have to pay more into the joint account to pay for the massive solicitors bill but I should still be left with a decent amount.
I am going to start overpaying my smaller nationwide loan first. I've figured out that I can set up a standing order to overpay every month by any amount I want. I might start this next month once I've cancelled the gym and netflix. That's £25 right there saved
Not had any overtime at all, wage is going to be very poor this month.
Any advice on how much I should overpay? Should I go all out or be cautious with the house and bits we still need to buy?
I hope everyone is well :j
