Someone has plonked an advertising board right outside of our house, during the morning - for conservatories ("we are currently working in this area") - nobody in our road appears to be having any work done on their houses
I assume that permission must be obtained from the local authority to use advertising plackards ?
What can I do with it - it is a heavy rubber base with a mild steel flat panel stuck to it - about 3 feet high ...

Maybe worth checking with them? What can I do with it - it is a heavy rubber base with a mild steel flat panel stuck to it - about 3 feet high ...
Well it depends how law abiding you are. Depending on what you do with it you could be charged with either theft or criminal damage. So legally, nothing.
Just remember you have no ownership of the land outside your house, within the law people can do what they want out there.
Your best bet is to check with the council and see what their rules are on this.0 -

It would not be illegal for you to leave a can of spray paint right next to it and hint to the local kiddies that they could be the next Banksy............0

If it is advertising a company surely you could contact them and ask them to remove it?0

Take it inside for safe keeping, as since no-one is having work done you thought it had been abandoned.0

Replace "we are currently working in this area" with "under no circumstances use these cowboys".There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0

A few sheets of newspaper and some water should firstly cover it without any lasting damage, (i.e. apply wet sheets of newspaper to it) and secondly leave some interesting (but easily removable) print marks if the newspaper is removed or falls off!
Alternatively apply suitably coloured stickers to it in such a way as to alter the text, change the phone numbers etc so as to render it useless.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Could you ask your local police station for some of their "Thieves operate in this area" stickers and strategically place it on the advert.0
