Does a vented hood work as well as a passive hood when not switched on

  • Final question. is there any legislation on how close to the neighbours garden I can place my extractor vents?

cooker is placed next to the wall which seperates our house with neighbours house. The shortest extraction route would be to guide it so the extractor exit is very close to the garden separation between me and my neighbour. I don't want to create issues with the neighbour where our cooking smell is being pumped 55% into our garden and 45% into their garden. Are there any legislation for this?

I like to keep the peace with my neighbours, I'll volunteer and put 2ft fence risers in so the smell doesn't veer into their garden too much. But I want to know whether they have any legal grounds to object.
