Found car tax disc in street-How can I return it?

Hello.

When walking the dog today I found a car tax disc dated feb 2015.

Reg and its an Audi but can't see any car that fits the bill.

Any way of returning it?

For curiosity if you mislay your disc what happens?

Thanks.

Hand it in at the local police station or post office or send it to the DVLA, no need to find the owner personally.
You could I guess put an advert in the free paper or shop window.
If the disc is mislaid, a replacement can be requested, however in less than a month's time it will be a mute point.

Wouldn't worry about it. From the 1st of October the owner wont need it anyway.

    I was thinking that.

Would that get the driver out of it?

I suppose anpr would know that the owner has paid the tax.

Is it still an offence not to display up until 1 oct?

It was £156 quids worth so I'm supposing it was a for a full year.

    It's 6 months on a band K vehicle.
Yes it is still an offence currently.

    Thanks for that.

I can't see where the band is written but there is a number 6 written by the post office stamp.

After the reg there is an 'R' and it was £156-75 in total.

Looking at the post office stamp its 29 Aug 14. Seems a dear tax fo 6 months

I'll just hand it in at the cop shop-if it's open mind!

Seems the 6 is for 6 months, the bands and charges can be found here, seems they may have just purchased the disc.

The VED on my 2006 Z4 is £275 for 6 months (or £500 for 12 months), so I'd be delighted to have car tax as cheap as £156.75 for 6 months!

Just bought the OH a car that does 17MPG, I'd be delighted to have one that does 55MPG.
