Cheap first and second date ideas?
Comments

Learn to gauge if its not working much earlier, ideally at the first or second drink not after another 2 or 3 rounds!0

A walk up the side of the Thames popping into a couple of bars along the way. Also if you want you could get something to drink earlier and have it on the benches overlooking the river. I'd like that and would'nt think the person was being tight.
£50.00 is a lot for an initial date, I would also be looking at the parks/galleries/art festivals etc.
A Boat trip is another cheaper one, thats nice as well.0 -
As the title says… any ideas for us singletons?
I’m a guy, I tend to do rounds if I’m on a first date, but being a guy I end up paying most of the drinks. Does anyone have any good place in London or good tricks for not spending too much? It bugs you a bit when you go on a date with a girl you realize that you don’t click with, then it dawns on you that you just spent £40 o £50 (I live in London, so the prices here don't help either)
Any good place you can recommend for cheap drinks or any 2 for 1 offers?
Thanks
Heh heh 50/50 for me if going for a meal, some really don't mind coughing up (and oddly those are the ones I don't mind footing the bill for anyways).0 -
Our first of dates (we were teens) were long walks around the country etc.
I like walks, you can talk a lot and in London stop off at a coffee shop etc, doubt you'll spend 50 quid on a coffee.0 -
McDonalds.
Cheap as chips.
Seriously, I would be really put off a man who was scouring the internet to save money on our first date.
Doesn't bode well for the future IMO.
A man that sounds like a bit of a tight-ar $eProud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

Tea at the Ritz?0 -
I'd say a coffee shop, you are spoilt for choice in & around Clapham / SW zone 2 with those. Lots of independent ones as well as the usual chains.0

I used to date a fair bit, and date people who dated a bit.and tbh, it can get expensive and frankly, boring. I would find coffee every day with friends or potential dates boring tbh.
London is a great place to be in OP's position because there is a wealth of places to meet and do things, and enjoy experiences that are more interesting memorable and I turn make oneself a bit more interesting and memorable than having coffee, going for a meal, or heaven forbid, going to macdonalds. Besides which, these interesting things mean you can have a full social life while not sacrificing financial future.
Win win on future partner potential. Interesting, cultured, not a fool with their money.. Plenty of times where great meals, coffee or bars etc are well worth it, but there is no shame in looking for other ways to do things. None at all.

After work happy hours in a nice cocktail bar? Otherwise, there are some great suggestions here already. It might also be worth looking at Time Out who I think have a free/cheap stuff to do in London section.
I'm a bit confused about how you're doing rounds yet paying for most of the drinks though. Are these women expecting you to pay (which personally I think is incredibly rude)? Or is it more that as the bloke you think you should pay more?"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0
