    Buy a 5 litre bottle of water. Remove the water. Replace lit. Cut hole in one side.
  • Drain it into an old mop bucket or plastic bowl big enough to fit it in. Then find some old pop bottles or plastic milk containers to decant it into and take it for recycling. A local garage may take it off you (but maybe not if it costs them to dispose of), or your local council may have recycling facilities. Just don't do it when the oil is hot.

    a plastic washing up bowl from the pound shop, after you have drained and refilled the car with the new oil decant the waste oil in the container the new oil came in
  • Washing up bowls are ideal, or cut down an old 5 gallon rectangular plastic drum.

    6 pint milk bottles, or the previous 5 litre can the oil came in are ideal for transporting used oil to the recycling centre...or paint your fence with it, last a lot longer than that rubbish the DIY sheds now sell laughingly called fence preserver.
  • Good shout cheers people 5 litre bottle or washing bowl I think it will be then saves a few quid but every little counts cheers

    @bantex that's hilarious

    On some cars the sump is so close to the ground that a washing-up bowl struggles to fit. In this case a cat-litter tray works well ( without the litter or poo in it, obviously !! )

    Park over a street drain and just let it run away.

    Yeh, good idea till you drop the sump nut through the grid...
    Optimists see a glass half full :)
    Pessimists see a glass half empty :(
    Engineers just see a glass twice the size it needed to be :D

  • Get a old 5ltr empty screenwash or oil bottle (the square one), cut a square out of the side, lay it down and use that :) That's what I do
