We're probably preaching to the converted by posting on the Public Transport and Cycling board!

We thought it would be interesting to see who's joining in on #CycleToWorkDay.

Feel free to join the poll and discuss :)

I cycle to work Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday every week. This week won't be any different :).

On the other hand, I wasn't aware of cycle to work day until I saw this thread.

I used to cycle into work when my office was based in Southampton, but since we got moved to Reading a year back :( obviously I cannot.

Saying that, I quite often work in Southampton on a Thursday and then cycle in. However, this Thursday I am working from home, as my boys are starting secondary school that day , so I also won't be joining in.

Like Angry Bear, I had no idea about this until I saw this thread, so wonder how widely it has been publicised.

  • I make a point of not cycling to work on this day. Simply due to the number of one day wonders on the road (Rather the pavement in most cases).

I hadn't heard of this, although I religiously follow Ride To Work Day (for motorcycles) - http://ridetoworkday.co.uk/

I normally commute by motorbike, but tonight I am sitting at my desk having cycled in for the first time in 30 years. I bought an electric bike a few weeks ago, and tonight was the night I decided to give the work run a try. It's quite a long way for someone not used to it (26 mile round trip, and hilly) so I will give tomorrow a miss, but I will certainly be cycling to work on Thursday.

I have put myself down as 'yes - always cycle to work' more as an optimistic statement of intent than an accurate description, but hey.

Yes - as I do anyway. It's the quickest way to get from Walthamstow to the West End of London, and it's free. Why people spend money to arrive later baffles me.
    It's only numbers.

I'm too scared to ride my bike on the London roads - i'm pretty wobbly on a bike as it is, never mind with a lorry behind me.

My journey is almost 20 miles - think I'll give it a miss, but well done everyone for doing it!

Out of interest, did anyone see a noticeable difference in the number of people cycling? No difference up here in the Highlands but then it's not really a popular area for commuting by bike.

Hmm, Andrea is only 'thanking' people who said they would be cycling! Charming - it's not my fault I no longer can (50+ miles each way really is not an option!).
