Hi everyone,
TTFtM, I hope your DH's school sort themselves out - hopefully the parents will complain like mad, I know I would. I am just so glad my two are out of education now.
Hester, good luck and don't work too hard.
Dentist for me this morning, I'm not looking forward to it at all. She's replacing a crown and I think it's one where I have problems being numbed. Apparently my nerves seem to be in a different place to normal people, a quirk I appear to have passed on to DS and DD. It takes a ton of anaesthetic to numb me and I end up frozen on most of my face.
I had a play with my new sewing machine, it's lovely and so much quieter than my old one.
Lots of washing today, with all the bedding from the Yorkshire house and I couldn't get to sleep last night so I'm feeling very tired.0 -
Good Morning everyone nice morning here today after a very wet day yesterday. Looks like changing the bedding is on the cards as we're forecast good weather so I might re-wash the lighter throws as we've used them a few times this past month and that will refresh them for winter use. I also have plums to use up so I will likely make a batch of chutney this afternoon too.
It's my eldest girlies birthday today, she's 36 where on earth has that amount of time gone??? I look back and it doesn't seem a quarter of that but it is, incredible, but she and her sister are still my best friends and it just gets better year on year so no complaints from me.
Hope you all have a good day, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Beautiful sunny day here and I'm appreciating the sun that shining through the window.
Nothing to add really, usual chores to do in the house. Pulled pork for tea tonight. Must get onto that next.
Its lovely to see on my Facebook, how smart the children look on their first day back at school. My eldest Grandson starts High School today. I remember his Dads' first day of High School like it was yesterday.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Good morning-its beautiful here today.I'm stealing a moment on here while baby DGS is asleep. He stayed over and was ok til about 4 then I could hear DS up with him.I got up at 6 and took him down for his porridge, then took pup down the fields for a good walk once DS came down. I put him in the buggy at 9.30 and walked to the shop for a paper,he was asleep when I came back :T so I really should be putting the washing in
Put the beef joint in the sc,need something easy for tea tonight as I suspect I'll be shattered as DGD will be here for tea too.I got some elderberries while out with the dog yesterday so need to make them into a syrup,I like it for winter coughs in hot water, and freeze it in small amounts.
Congratulations Islandmaid :jI hope you and your hubby will be very happy.
Ok better go,prob got half an hour before he wakes upHave a good day all.x

Morning all
On the bad side, just emptying our caravan out, as we won't use it before we go abroad and by the time we come back it will be too cold for me. On the good side, a lot of tins, packets etc so can absorb them into the food and store cupboards.
Schools not back down here yet I guess as roads reasonably quiet when I went for a swim at 8am.
LO cottage pie and mash for tea, no need to cook, and doubling up on dish for tomorrow to give us another couple of LOs.
Hugs to those sending littlies , and not so littlies off to school and uni for the first time, keep a hanky handy.
Right off to tackle the caravan shopping!Carolbee0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Islandmaid, you and your hubby look absolutely fab in your photo, many congratulations.
Well it's turned into a lovely sunny day today but I won't be going out in it as I have two friends appearing at different times today for a coffee and a catch-up. I had a very stressy day with one of them yesterday so I think we need to clear the air and start again. She is normally lovely, a bit flakey but her Bipolar is running riot at the moment and she is doing dangerous and risky things, some of which involve my daughters  so I am not happy . It's difficult because she is still taking her meds and she has seen her GP and there is nothing more they can offer her.
I managed to get into town and pick up some tea on offer at the Co-op. I think I've got enough to last through the Autumn and possible the Winter too. DDs 14 and 13 went into the next big town and bought school shoes and school supplies. I am so glad they are independant little misses as I find it difficult to leave the house most days so I do a LOT of online shopping
.
OS, well, I have 3 loads of washing from my youngest but she is capable of putting it on and putting it away so I will be generally chivvying the girls to get some tidying done. I am making a very easy tea of corned beef hash so nothing major needs to be done for that except peel a few spuds. Should be quite a nice day really.
That's all my waffle for now, hope you all manage to have a great day even if you are back to work after the summer holidays! Take care xx0 -
Best laid plans of mice and men, and all that.....
Mr LW is wfh today; he called his dentist yesterday and made an emergency appointment, as he's got bad toothache.:( This is very unusual for him; he's meticulous about oral hygiene; he says the gum is inflamed, so I fear it may be an abcess.:( He wants me to go along with him, in case he's a bit too groggy to drive afterwards, so that's my morning scuppered. I don't mind - he never whinges unless he's genuinely hurting, and he does so much for me. Bailey & Cassie have had a lovely game in the garden, so they'll be fine while we're out.
Must dash - we need to leave in about 8 minutes time.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Of course it would have helped if I'd checked the socket switch on the wall was turned on .... I think tea will be late todayThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hello all,
A lovely day here, bright and sunny.
Washing out and have taken DD shopping.
Our children go back to school tomorrow, so DGD2 and DGS are coming for a meal this evening, and I was asked if boyfriend of DGD2 could come as well because she wanted to introduce him to us. How nice is that
I was going to do a roast, but I received a text late yesterday to say said boyfriend doesn't like roast. WHAT a rugby player who doesn't like roast dinner,so we decided on a buffet with lots of bits. Himself has to do the honours later picking them up.
Islandmaid you both look so happy, thank you for sharing the photo with us.
Dumpling sounds like a tricky situation, hope it goes well.
Lyn I think you have started something with your wartime cook book, I shall be making something else later in the week
We have to have our bloods done tomorrow, so fasting from tonight. DD has to see her surgeon as well, so whilst she is in clinic and having x rays, we will have bloods done and then go to the hospital restaurant for some breakfast.
Enjoy the rest of your day

Hi everyone
Lovely to read all your news - hope your DH is ok with his enormous class, TTFTM - I sometimes have to teach a massive class in a teeny tiny room and it's very stressful.
Thanks to all who suggested places to buy blank canvases - we don't have a Home Bargains but I got four big canvases for a tenner from The Works! Now I'm going to get tester pots from B and Q to make beautifully colour-coordinated paintings for my living room walls - I've never done anything like this before but the paintings I like from Next would have been about £85-100 in total and I should be able to do them for £15-20. I'm going to buy some subtle gold bits and bobs to embellish them with, I think, but I'm going to look around before I buy anything. I've got a friend who's a teaching assistant and she might have some stuff in her stash, a lot of which came from me in the first place!
I had an appointment with an occupational health doctor this morning about my autoimmune disease and I was very anxious beforehand. He was actually very lovely (and seriously good-looking) but I still felt wiped out afterwards and took a very long detour to The Works and Costa before going back to work (where I'm now on MSE instead of working:rotfl:). I've been really good about not going to Costa but I've weakened recently.
I've got another holiday on 13 September - a week in Helsinki - then when I get back I really need to get strict with my anti-allergy diet and living a much more OS life.
DH had his first day back at work yesterday (after 15 months off following the bleeding of a non-cancerous spinal tumour made of abnormal blood vessels ) and he was so tired last night that he could barely function. He's going to have a sleep today when he gets home - he's on short days - so hopefully we'll be able to have more of an evening together. We are very aware that his future is very, very uncertain - the tumour is inoperable - so we are trying to seize the day every single day and enjoy every minute of good health that he has.0
